NARRATIVE
All addresses listed herein, unless otherwise noted, are within the limits of the city of Renton King
County WA. This report is a summation of events that occurred and is not an exact sequence of
events.
On 10-16-23, at approx. 1255 hrs, I was dispatched to the area of NE 3rd St./Monterey Dr NE on a
reported blocking hit and run collision. A witness had called in and given basic information along with
the plates of the two vehicles involved.
The two vehicles were described as follows:
Run vehicle and Veh 1 -Red 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer, WALP CDK6843, registered to Ruben
Martinez Tlaxcala out of Kent
Veh 2 -Black 2010 Mazda 3, WALP CGF6543
On arrival, I contacted the witness, identified as Spencer Johannes, who said he was driving east on
NE 3rd St, coming up the hill. He was a short distance behind the suspect vehicle that was also
eastbound. He said he didn't see the actual collision but saw both vehicles spun out after the impact,
with the black car coming to a rest in eastbound lanes, facing south. The red utility came to rest also
in the eastbound lanes but facing west.
The red utility backed around until it was facing east, turned its hazard lights on and sat for a moment
before driving away, last seen going east. Johannes followed it a short distance until he got its license
plate. He later turned around and went back to find the black car still on scene. The driver of the red
utility never got out or came to talk to anyone. Johannes described him as a heavyset Hispanic male.
He cannot not identify the driver if seen again.
I contacted the driver of the Mazda who provided his WADL, identified as Wilmer Castrillo Najera (09-
17-02), and other necessary paperwork as well. He said he was coming down the hill, west on NE 3rd
St, in the lane closest to the yellow line in the middle. As he was coming, he saw the red car spin out
and then cross over into his lane, hitting his car with its front driver's side corner. The hit caused him
to spin out and stop.
The impact caused major damage to his car, with minor cosmetic damage to the rear driver's quarter
panel but damaging the front axle as well. The car was not drivable afterward and had to be towed.
No injuries were reported by occupants of the Mazda and no aid was requested. Castrillo cannot
identify the driver of the utility if seen again.
