REPORT NO. EE92140 CASE# 24-5836 OF COLLISION
06/02/24 19:37
OF CbLLI510N
NARRATIVE
On 06/02/2024, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police vehicle as 3R23. At approximately
1941 hours, I was dispatched to an injury collision at the intersection of Hardie Ave SW/SW Sunset
Blvd, which is located within the city limits of Renton, county of King, Washington. Dispatch advised
that an involved party called in a motor vehicle accident at the location. This same caller mentioned
that they may have a head injury.
When I arrived at the call location, I was able to locate the involved subjects in the crash. They were
identified as Unit 1 and Unit 2 respectively.
I saw that Unit 1 was facing northbound on Hardie Ave SW just north of the intersection. I saw that
Unit 2 was facing westbound on SW Sunset Blvd just east of the intersection. I also saw that the front
passenger side of Unit 1 had impacted the front driver's side of Unit 2.
1 was able to speak to the driver of Unit 1. My conversation with her is summarized as follows:
Unit 1 stated that she was coming from the south in the direction of the nearby Fred Meyer to
continue straight on Hardie Ave SW. As she approached SW Sunset Blvd, she stated she believed
she had a green light to proceed past the intersection to continue northbound. Unit 1 then collided
with Unit 2 just north of the intersection.
When I observed Unit 1's vehicle, I noticed that there was a large dent and scratches that were on the
front passenger side bumper area of the vehicle. Unit 1's driver stated that none of her airbags had
deployed and that she was wearing her seatbelt.
Unit 1 was the only occupant of the vehicle. She stated she was uninjured.
I was then able to speak with the driver of Unit 2. My conversation with him is summarized as
follows:
Unit 2 stated that he was stopped waiting at the light on SW Sunset Blvd to continue straight. The
road is a right turn (to head northbound on Hardie Ave SW) and straight (to continue westbound on
SW Langston Rd) lane. Unit 2 said that his signal turned green, and he continued straight to continue
westbound from SW Sunset Blvd to SW Langston RD. Unit 2 then collided with Unit 1.
When I observed Unit 2's vehicle, I noticed that there was a large dent and scratches that were on the
front driver's side bumper area of the vehicle. Unit 2's driver stated that none of his airbags had
deployed and that he was wearing his seatbelt.
Unit 2 was the only occupant of the vehicle. He stated that he had head pain from the incident. I did
not see any visible marks or injuries on his head.
I had an independent witness approach me and identify herself as "Edgar Vite". He said he was in the
left turn lane just south of the intersection. He had dashcam footage to provide to officers for review.
Upon review, I saw that there were two video clips, a rear camera clip and a front camera clip. I saw
Unit 1 come from behind the witness's vehicle in the adjacent lane headed northbound on Hardie Ave
SW. I saw that the light at the intersection had turned red. Unit 1 enters the intersection while the light
is already red, briefly brakes, and continues straight. Unit 2 can then be seen preparing to continue
westbound from SW Sunset Blvd toward SW Langston RD before colliding with Unit 1.
Based on the fact that I observed via dash camera footage that Unit 1 did not follow the signaling
device at the intersection which indicated for her to stop and the fact that this caused Unit 2 to collide

with the passenger side of Unit 1, 1 found reasonable cause for a violation of RCW 46.61.050 -Failure
to obey traffic control device. I subsequently completed a SECTOR infraction for Unit 1 and sent it to
the prosecutor queue to be mailed to her.
Unit 1 eventually left under her own power from the scene. Unit 2 was transported to Valley Medical
Center by ambulance and his vehicle was towed to the Banker tow yard.
An exchange of information was provided to both parties before they left the scene.
Associated photos and videos were uploaded to Evidence.com to be added to the case file.
Based on the above described, Unit 1 appears to be the proximate cause of the collision.
This report is for informational purposes only to document the collision.
This concludes my report.
I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the
foregoing is true and correct.
