EE29359 CASE# 23-14180 OF COLLISION 12/10/23 17:21 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE Case Number 23-14180 On 12/10/2023 at approximately 1723 hours, I was dispatched to 878 Benson Rd S within the City of Renton, King County, Washington to a vehicle collision with injury. Dispatch relayed over the radio that two vehicles identified as silver 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe WA/LIC AAM6630 VIN# 5NMSG73D89H259974, and a black 2015 Chevrolet Malibu WA/LIC BGJ8614 VIN#1 G1 1 C5SL4FF239551 were involved in a collision. On arrival I noticed both vehicles on the road blocking both directions of traffic. I identified unit 1 as the Hyundai and unit 2 as the Chevy. Unit 1 was on the southbound lane facing south with major damage to the driver's side of the vehicle and unit 2 was on the northbound lane facing north and the vehicle sustained major damage all around the vehicle. I spoke to the driver of unit 2 identified by her WADOL as Scott, Mariah Kiarah DOB (03/22/1997) and she said the following: Scott was driving northbound on Benson Rd S when she noticed that a truck in front of her swerved out of the way to avoid being hit by unit 1 who was coming directly into her lane of travel. Unit 1 then entered the northbound lane and collided with the driver's side door of unit 2 and caused unit 2 to spin and collide with a concrete barrier that separates Benson Rd S and 1-405. Scott said the left side of her leg hurt but she was medically cleared by fire soon after. Scott provided me with all the proper documents. A two was called for Scott's vehicle that was totaled due to the collision. I spoke with the driver of unit 1 identified by her WADOL as Damore, Alessia DOB (08/03/1983) and she stated that she was driving southbound on Benson Rd S and was distracted by her phone. When Damore looked up away from her phone she noticed that a truck in front of her swerved out of the way and she collided with unit 2. Damore then stated that she didn't remember much after. Damore was cleared medically by fire and a tow was called for her vehicle due to the damages from the collision. I called the reporting party who was identified as Szabo, Szilvia DOB (253) 266-4665. Szabo was he driver of the truck that was in front of unit 2 who was almost struck by unit 1 but swerved out of the way. Szabo informed me that she was driving northbound on Benson Rd S when she noticed that unit 1 was driving directly towards her vehicle onto her lane of traffic. Szabo then swerved out of the way to avoid being hit by unit 1 and unit 1 collided with unit 2. Szabo said her vehicle was slightly hit by unit 1 but she didn't want to be involved and said the damage was very minor. Based on the facts above and all statements I informed Damore that she was the at fault driver due to her being distracted by her phone. I informed Damore that she would receive a citation via her mail for Inattentive driving, and for Negligent Driving in the 2nd Degree. Both partied received my business card with the case number and after both vehicles were towed away from the scene, I left the location. This concludes my involvement with this case.
