EE69008 CASE# 24-3635 OF COLLISION 04/03/24 16:10 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 24-3635 On 04/03/2024 at approximately 1616 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking vehicle collision at the residential driveway of 1829 Harrington Ave NE (JWO the intersection at Harrington Ave NE and Index Ave NE), within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon arrival, I confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time of report. There, I collected each of the involved party's driving documents and their independent recollection of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and had just dropped off his coworkers at the residential address listed above. The driver of Unit#1 stated that he was intending to leave the residence and began reversing from the driveway towards Harrington Ave NE. The driver of Unit#1 said he was traveling at low speeds and believed traffic was clear for him to continue reversing. The driver of Unit#1 stated that Unit#2 was "speeding" and came out of nowhere. The driver of Unit#1 said he began to reverse and at low speeds, collided with the front passenger side fender of Unit#2 causing moderate damage to the rear bumper of Unit#1. The driver of Unit#1 also accused of the driver of Unit#2 of being on her cell phone while driving. The diver of Unit#2 said she had just picked her children up at the nearby school and had turned southwestbound onto Harrington Ave NE from Index Ave NE. As Unit#2 was approaching the residential driveway of where Unit#1 was backing out from, she stated that Unit#1 began reversing. Both vehicles collided in the roadway causing moderate damage to the passenger side of Unit#2. A neighboring residence had video surveillance of the roadway. The collision itself was not captured but one of the security cameras did capture Unit#2 drive past the residence at a normal and reasonable speed for that stretch of roadway. This video has since been uploaded to evidence.com under this case number. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the driver of Unit#1 (Victervo Ortega) was the predominant factor for the collision as Victervo Ortega did not properly grant the right of way to traffic behind him while reversing. Victervo Ortega was not paying attention to the traffic in the roadway causing a collision. Unit#1 was able to be driven away from the scene without further incident Unit#2 had to be impounded due to owner request. An exchange of information was provided to both involved parties.
