Figure 1: Overview of the tree removed highlighted in the blue circle.
Discussion: On Wednesday June 12th, 2024 the Inspecting Arborist received a phone call from a citizen in
the Tiffany Park neighborhood that a tree company was removing a large, private, big leaf maple. The
Inspecting Arborist arrived to find the contractors (White River Tree Service LLC.) sectioning the tree and
chipping the debris. The Inspecting Arborist spoke to the foreman and discovered that the homeowner
had not filed a RVMP. The foreman insisted that the tree had major decay and warranted removal but
did not have pictures or an arborist report to support this claim. The foreman invited the Inspecting
Arborist onto the property to take pictures and measurements.
Tree Estimated Diameter at
breast height
Notes
1 31 inches Single stem big leaf maple
The tree is a landmarked sized tree and did present some decay in a branch (see Figure 3) but the
severity of decay could not be determined on the scene because most of the debris had already been
removed. The Inspecting Arborist has a video of contractors working if further evidence is required.
Recommendation:
Property owner shall obtain an RVMP retroactively, including an arborist report, for the removal of a
landmark size tree and plant two new 2” caliper trees.
