CASE# 24-10728 OF COLLISION 10/14/24 17:15 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE #24-10728 Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State of Washington. This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras. This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. On 10/14/2024 at approximately 1721 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of 108th Ave SE and SE 180th St the city of Renton, King County, WA, for a hit and run accident involving 2 victim vehicles. Dispatch advised the suspect vehicle was a white Audi sedan and was gone south bound on 108th Ave SE. I arrived and found three vehicles parked in the left-hand turn lane of the intersection. I found Unit 2 a maroon Suzuki XL7 with WA LIC: AQK5722, Unit 3 a white Kia Sorento with WA LIC: CLU9906, and Unit 4 a black Lexus RX with WA LIC: CNP8119. All drivers were okay and no airbags were deployed on any of the vehicles. Off duty King County Sheriff Deputy Perreira was at the scene when I arrived and informed me he witnessed the hit and run take place. He informed me he saw Unit 1, the suspect vehicle being driven by a while male driver. The vehicle was described as a white Audi sedan with a partial WA Law Enforcement LIC: LEM9, but was unsure of the rest. He attempted to follow the vehicle north bound on 108th Ave SE, but said he lost it in traffic as it turned east on to SE Petrovitsky Rd. He then returned to the scene and informed me he found the vehicle and had pinned it with his personal vehicle. The vehicle was found by him in the parking lot near Happy Tails Animal Hospital located at 17630 108th Ave SE. As I was assisting the vehicles to move off the roadway and removing a white bumper that had fallen off the hit and run vehicle, a young male ran up to the scene and informed me he was the driver of Unit 1. 1 placed him in handcuffs and informed him he was under arrest for hit and run. 1 placed him in the back of my patrol car and continued moving into the parking lot of Fire Station 13 with the victim vehicles. Driver 2 of Unit 2 said she was stopped in the left hand turn lane of 108th Ave SE at a red light. She saw a white sedan, turn on to 108th Ave SE heading north and it spun and went over the median curb crashing into her both driver side doors of her vehicle. She was then pushed into lane 2 where she struck the driver side passenger door of Unit 3. Her driver side door would no longer open. Driver 3 of Unit 3, said she was stopped in lane 2 and next to Unit 2. She saw the white sedan turn north bound on to 108th Ave SE, spin, hit the driver side doors of Unit 2, and then felt the impact of Unit 2's rear passenger bumper hit her car. Driver 4 of Unit 4, stated she was stopped in the left hand turn lane behind Unit 2. She saw a white sedan spin in the opposite lanes of traffic, loose control, jump over the center median curb and hit both her vehicle and Unit 2. She then saw the white sedan back off the curb and take off north on 108th Ave SE. Other officers arrived at the scene to assist. Officer Petty located Unit 1 and was able to take pictures and confirm the plate was WA LIC: LEM947N. All vehicles were damaged, but able to drive away under their own power. Renton Fire department checked the occupants of the involved vehicles out on the scene. All were medically cleared. I took photos of the damage to the three victim vehicles when they were parked in the parking lot at Fire Station 13 and uploaded them to Axon. The drivers of Unit 2, 3, and 4 all provided written statements about the incident. At the conclusion of my investigation, I determined that the proximate cause of the collision is due to Driver 1 of Unit 1, driving too fast for conditions as it had been raining off and on through the afternoon. Unit 1 committed one (1) count of Hit-and-Run -Attended by being involved in an accident with another vehicle, which is attended, and failing to stop and remain at the scene until fulfilling all statutory duties (provide name, address, insurance company, policy, vehicle license, exhibit driver's license and render reasonable assistance to any person injured). Unit 1 was booked into SCORE Jail and issued citation #4AO715218. Driver 1 of Unit 1 was unable to produce valid motor vehicle insurance. Unit 1 also had an expired vehicle registration, which expired on 09/01/2024. The driver was cited for both under citation # 4A0715219. All other drivers had valid motor vehicle insurance and were provided with an exchange of information. Please see other officer reports for more information. This concludes my report.
