WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
1. EXISTING WATER SERVICES ALONG WELLS AVENUE S BETWEEN S 2ND STREET
AND THE PROJECT SITE SERVED BY THE EXISTING 6" WATER MAIN WILL BE
TRANSFERRED TO THE NEW 12" WATER MAIN UPON COMPLETION. THE NEW
12" WATER MAIN MUST BE INSTALLED, TESTED, AND ACCEPTED PRIOR TO
TRANSFER OF SERVICES.
2. CITY CREWS WILL COMPLETE THE TRANSFER OF SERVICES INCLUDING
INSTALLATION OF NEW SERVICE LINES, METER SETTER/BOXES, AND
RESTORATION OF STREET CROSSINGS ASSOCIATED WITH THE NEW SERVICE
LINES. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR STREET RESTORATION ASSOCIATED
WITH THE WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION.
J. SERVICES WILL BE TRANSFERRED FOR THE FOLLOWING PARCELS: 7231501090
(126 WELLS AVE S), 7231502020 (123 WELLS AVE S), 0007200085 (122
WELLS AVE S), 0007200091 (118 WELLS AVE S).
4. CITY CREWS WILL ABANDON THE EXISTING 6" WATER MAIN FOLLOWING THE
TRANSFER OF SERVICES TO THE NEW 12" WATER MAIN.
5. ALL FITTINGS AND VALVES WITH MECHANICAL JOINT (MJ) END(S) SHALL HAVE
A WEDGE -TYPE RETAINER GLAND EQUAL TO MEGALUG SERIES 1100.
6. CONCRETE THRUST BLOCKS REQUIRED ON ALL FITTINGS PER COR STANDARD
PLANS 330.2 AND 330.3.
7 CONTRACTOR TO POTHOLE ALL UTILITY CROSSINGS TO IDENTIFY CONFLICTS
WITH NEW WATER MAIN PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR TO PROMPTLY
NOTIFY CITY OF ANY CONFLICTS.
8. CONTRACTOR TO POTHOLE EXISTING SIDE SEWERS CROSSING NEW WATER
MAIN PRIOR TO BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION OF WATER MAIN. DEPTH AND
ELEVATION AT THE TOP OF SIDE SEWER AND AVAILABLE CLEARANCE TO NEW
WATER MAIN SHALL BE PROVIDED TO CITY. IF AVAILABLE CLEARANCE IS LESS
THAN 18 INCHES BUT GREATER THAN 6 INCHES, WATER MAIN SHALL BE
INSTALLED WITH CDF PIPE ENCASEMENT EXTENDING 10' ON BOTH SIDES OF
CROSSING. IF AVAILABLE CLEARANCE TO NEW WATER MAIN IS LESS THAN 6
INCHES, SIDE SEWER SHALL BE REPLACED TO PROVIDE 18 INCHES OF
CLEARANCE FROM NEW WATER MAIN IN ACCORDANCE WITH CITY OF RENTON
STANDARD PLAN 406.1 IF SIDE SEWER REPLACEMENT IS REQUIRED,
CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT A DESIGN OF THE NEW SIDE SEWER TO THE CITY
FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
9. WITH 90' BEND EXISTING 6" LINE WILL BE DECOMMISSIONED. THRUST BLOCK
WILL LIKELY EXTEND INTO SIDEWALK AREA AND MAY REQUIRE REMOVAL OF
CURB/GUTTER/SIDEWALK FOR INSTALLATION. PROVIDE APPLICABLE NOTES
AND DETAILS ON HOW THIS AREA WILL BE CONSTRUCTED.
