EF29322 CASE# 24-11150 OF COLLISION 10/27/24 04:28 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 24-11150 This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized. On 10-27-2024 1 was working as a police officer in a fully marked department issued uniform and patrolling in a marked police vehicle for the city of Renton. At approximately 0433 hours I dispatched myself to a report of a collsion with injury located at the 2000 block of NE 3rd St, City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. I arrived on scene at approximately 0433 hours and observed a red Toyota Prius (license plate#A7614916) flipped over upside down on the south side of the road on NE 3rd St, and the other vehicle was a white Hyundai Accent (license plate#CBR3074) in the number one lane in the eastbound traffic of NE 3rd with obvious damage to the front and rear to the vehicle. Renton Fire Authority was dispatched to the scene to aid the driver of the Hyundai Accent Malina R. Bennett (DOB 09-06-1998) and all other parties involved in this incident did not require aid at the scene. I spoke with the driver of the Prius who was psotively identifed as Aruna Sylla (DOB 04-20-1988) via WADOL photo and he advised the following: Sylla was driving in the number one lane westbound on NE 3rd St towards Sunset Blvd N when an unknown vehicle in front of him braked suddenly, so he braked very quickly. Sylla then lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the eastbound traffic lanes of NE 3rd St. He then was struck on the right side of his vehicle by the Hyundai and flipped upside down. When he exited the vehicle Police and Renton Fire was already on scene. When speaking with Sylla I did not observe any indications that he was impaired. I was only able to speak with Harrison R. Nichols (DOB 03-16-1996) who was a passenger in the Hyundai because the driver was already being prepped to transport to Valley Medical Center. Nichols advised the following: Nichols was in the Hyundai while his friend was driving everyone home while in the number one lane in the eastbound traffic of NE 3rd St. While driving eastbound they observed the Prius swerve into their lane and collided with the front of their vehicle and flip over upside down next to them on the side. They immedivately called the emergency number because of the damage to their vehicle, the driver suffering injuries, and concern for the driver of the Prius. I called for two tows and Banker's towing arrived to take both vehicles off of the roadway. Both vehicle owner's were unable to provide any proof of insurance.
