Runaways –Missing Juveniles
•Frequent/repetitive runaways are at higher risk for trafficking
•Increased risk if victim of sexual assault, rape of a child or molestation
•Officers have been trained to ask the guardians questions to determine
if trafficking or internet related crimes may be involved
•Renton Police track runaways
•The Detective responsible for missing persons, including runaways, will let the
Detectives responsible for trafficking/internet crimes against children know if he
believes a child is at risk. We then can search commercial sex websites for them
and reach out to task forces to assist with locating the missing youths
•Juvenile Justice Project –email list of Detectives, Crime Analysts,
Prosecutors in the region who investigate human trafficking. Useful to
disseminate information, locate at risk runaways
