Hazardous Materials Management Statement:
The project is not located within a City of Renton Aquifer Protection Area (APA) Zone, see the attached
City of Renton Aquifer Protection Map.
A statement which includes:
a. A description of refueling of construction vehicles that will occur on the site and an inventory of
hazardous materials expected to be temporarily stored, dispensed, used, or handled on the
site.
Refueling of construction vehicles, including excavators, backhoes, dozers, and trucks is allowed but will
not exceed twenty (20) gallons per piece of equipment. Fuel times may include gasoline and diesel.
Funnels or tubing connecting directly to the fuel container will be used to prevent spilling during fueling.
Fuel containers will be stored in the contractor’s vehicle bed and not left overnight onsite. Fueling will
only occur within the building envelope.
b. A description of how the requirements in RMC 4-4-030C7, Construction Activity Standards –
Zones 1 and 2, will be met by the applicant. (Ord. 4851, 8-7-2000; Amd. Ord. 4992, 12-9-2002)
Construction activity standards only apply to construction in Aquifer Protection Area (APA) Zones 1 and 2.
This project is not within APA Zone 1 or 2. However, most of the same measures will be required as for
the APA Zones. These include:
Securing Hazardous Materials: No hazardous materials will be left on site when the site is
unsupervised except for locked fuel tanks on construction vehicles, grease guns, hydraulic fluid,
paints, finishes, oils, and adhesives locked inside vehicles or the building.

flammable and combustible liquids from tanks, containers, and tank vehicles into the fuel and fluid
reservoirs of construction vehicles or stationary equipment on the construction site shall be in
accordance with these standards and the Uniform Fire Code Section 7904.2, as adopted or
amended by the City. These measures include storage and dispensing with non-leaking
containers, having appropriate fire extinguishers readily available, no smoking on or near fuel,
grounding vehicles when fueling, and protection from electrical sparks.
Removal of Leaking Vehicles and Equipment: Construction vehicles and stationary equipment
that are found to be leaking fuel, hydraulic fluid, and/or other hazardous materials shall be removed
from the site or immediately repaired in place and may remain on the site in the interim only if
leakage is completely contained.
Unauthorized Releases: Unauthorized releases as defined in RMC 4-11-210, Definitions U, shall
immediately be contained, reported, and cleaned up as required by RMC 4-9-015G, Unauthorized
Releases. Contaminated soil, water, and other materials shall be disposed of according to state
