EF22187 CASE# 24-10127 OF COLLISION 09/27/24 15:01 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On September 27, 2024, at approximately 1501 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking vehicle collision in the 17808 108th Ave SE, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. While en route, Dispatch advised that a vehicle had rolled over. Upon arrival, I confirmed that the driver of the rolled over vehicle had sustained an injury and Renton Fire was on scene assessing the driver. Later, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit 1 said he was operating his vehicle and was exiting the parking lot of Fred Meyer, near the 17800 block of 108th Ave SE. The driver of Unit 1 stated that he stopped at the exit and looked both ways (north and southbound). He did not notice any vehicle traffic, so he proceeded forward and made a right into the southbound traffic of 108th Ave SE. Unit 1 and Unit 2 unexpectedly collided in the roadway causing the unit 2 to roll over. The driver of Unit 1 sustained moderate damage to its front left bumper. The driver of Unit 2 said she was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was also traveling southbound in about the 17700 block of 108th Ave SE approaching the entrance of Fred Meyer but in lane 2 of 2. The driver of Unit 2 stated she intended to continue southbound past the entrance, but upon approaching the entrance where Unit 1 was located at, Unit 2 saw as Unit 1 had turned in front of her and into her lane of travel. The driver of Unit 2 attempted to avoid the collision but was unable to and subsequently collided with Unit 1, causing unit 2 to rollover. Unit 2 suffered major damage to the front, sides, and roof of the vehicle. One witness confirmed that Unit 1 turned right from the exit of Fred Meyer to farthest lane of travel (lane 2 of 2) and directly in front of Unit 2. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the driver of Unit 1 is the proximate cause for the collision as he violated RCW 46.61.290 which covers right turns and stated that "both the approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway." Unit 1 was drivable after the collision. Unit 2 was not able to be driven away, so it was towed away by Gene Meyers Towing. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties.
