PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The applicant is requesting a Tier 1 Temporary Use Permit for a regular rotation of
licensed and permitted food trucks from the City of Renton and the Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA),
respectively. The rotation of food trucks would offer weekday lunch service. The proposed food truck
locations are included in the submitted site plan (Exhibit A). Three (3) food truck spaces are proposed with ten
feet (10’) between each food truck. The food trucks would be primarily operated utilizing an internal
generator. Some food trucks would utilize an externalized generator approved by the RRFA and others would
plug into an external power source. The proposed food truck locations would not obstruct emergency access.
In addition, the applicant provided a Use of Restroom Agreement (Exhibit B), which states that restrooms
would be available for food truck employees and that the restrooms would be located within 500 feet (500’)
of the food trucks.
The Temporary Use Permit is hereby Approved with Conditions* and subject to the following conditions::
*CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL:
1. Food truck patrons shall not block vehicular access and circulation to the hotel when visiting the food
trucks.
2. A minimum of ten feet (10’) of separation shall be maintained between food trucks.
3. Food truck hours shall be limited to midday lunch service during the work week (Monday through
Friday).

4. Noise levels of any generators utilized by the food trucks shall be mitigated to reduce noise impacts to
surrounding residential and commercial uses.

RECONSIDERATION: Within 14 days of the decision date, any party may request that the decision be reopened
by the approval body. The approval body may modify his decision if material evidence not readily discoverable
prior to the original decision is found or if he finds there was misrepresentation or fact. After review of the
Reconsideration request, if the approval body finds sufficient evidence to amend the original decision, there
will be no further extension of the appeal period. Any person wishing to take further action must file a formal
appeal within the 14-day appeal time frame.
APPEALS: Appeals of permit issuance must be filed in writing on or before 5:00 p.m. on December 20, 2024.
Appeals must be submitted electronically to the City Clerk at cityclerk@rentonwa.gov or delivered to City Hall
1st floor Lobby Hub Monday through Friday. The appeal fee, normally due at the time an appeal is submitted,
will be collected at a future date if your appeal is submitted electronically. The appeal submitted in person may
be paid on the first floor in our Finance Department. Appeals to the Hearing Examiner are governed by RMC 4-
8-110 and additional information regarding the appeal process may be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office,
cityclerk@rentonwa.gov.
EXPIRATION: A Temporary Use Permit is valid for up to one (1) year from the effective date of the permit, unless
the Community & Economic Development Administrator or designee establishes a shorter time frame or an
applicant can request that a permit be valid beyond the one year expiration, for up to five years at the time of
application or prior to permit expiration.
EXTENSIONS: Extension requests do not require additional fees and shall be requested in writing prior to permit
expiration to the Department of Community & Economic Development Administrator.
