EF44145 CASE# 24-12598 OF COLLISION 12/08/24 02:47 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 12/09/2024, 1 was working uniformed DUI emphasis in a marked police car as 9R213. At approximately 0247 hours, I overheard Officer T. Ediger get on the radio and say that he was just involved in a t-bone collision at the intersection of NE 12th St/Edmonds Ave NE which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Due to the calls for service in the city; the fact that there were limited units available for patrol calls at this time of the evening; and the fact that my DUI emphasis detail had concluded for the evening, responded to assist with the incident. The two involved vehicles in this incident were later identified as follows: Unit 1: A gray 2008 Ford Escape (WA/CLN7620, VIN/1 FMCU93118KB05488). Unknown driver. Unit 2: A Black 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe marked Police Vehicle (WA-Exempt/67618D, VIN:/ 1 GNLCDEC6KR355209). Driver: Officer Tyler J. Ediger (DOB: 10/01/2001, verified via DOL photo). As I was driving to the call, I overheard Officer T. Ediger mention on the radio something to the effect that the other involved vehicle that had struck him (Unit 1) had left the scene and fled northbound on Edmonds. Officer T. Ediger then mentioned that he had located Unit 1 parked in front of 1317 Edmonds Ave NE, Renton with what he believed was a firearm in the back seat of Unit 1. I arrive at the location at approximately 0251 hours. I located Officer T. Ediger just north of the dispatch location next to Unit 1. I was able to speak to Officer T. Ediger about the crash and review his in-car video. My conversation with him is summarized as follows: Officer T. Ediger said he was headed eastbound on NE 12th St, approaching Edmonds Ave NE. This intersection is a 4-way stop. Officer T. Ediger mentioned that he came to a stop at the intersection. Officer T. Ediger mentioned he did not see Unit 1 and proceeded into the intersection to continue eastbound on NE 12 St. Officer T. Ediger then felt an impact on the passenger side of his vehicle. He then mentioned Unit 1 left the location and continued northbound on Edmonds Ave NE. He was unable to get a good look at the driver of Unit 1 at the time of the collision. I reviewed Officer T. Ediger's in-car video. The footage revealed the following: Officer T. Ediger (Unit 2) can be seen traveling eastbound on NE 12th St. when Unit 2 approached Edmonds Ave NE, on the right side of the frame, you can see Unit 1 just south of the intersection facing northbound on Edmonds Ave NE. It appears that both Unit 1 and Unit 2 reach the intersection at about the same time, and both appear to come to a stop for the 4-way stop. Unit 2 then continues into the intersection to go eastbound on NE 12th St around the same time Unit 1 continues into the intersection to go northbound on Edmonds Ave NE. Unit 1's front end can then be seen impacting the front passenger side of Unit 2. Officer T. Ediger mentioned that he was wearing his seatbelt and that he was uninjured. The airbags in his vehicle did not deploy. I observed Unit 2 and there was a large dent and scratches that ran from around the front passenger side lower wheel well area down the passenger side doors which ended all the way down to the rear bumper area. I briefly observed Unit 1 and saw that the vehicle was unoccupied. Unit 1 was parked facing the PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. EF44145 CASE# 24-12598 OF COLLISION 12/08/24 02:47 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE wrong way on Edmonds Ave NE. Unit 1 was parked facing northbound in the southbound lanes adjacent to the dispatch address. I saw that Unit 1 had damage to the front bumper area. I also saw that there was what appeared to be a brown/tan firearm in the back passenger cabin of the vehicle. 1 also overheard from other officers that they had located a container of an alcoholic beverage somewhere inside the vehicle. I assisted other officers as they made contact with the registered owner of the Ford as the vehicle was parked in front of the registered owner's address, which was the dispatch address. I identified the registered owner as Jonishia M. Forbes (DOB: 05/07/1993, verified via DOL photo). I also canvassed the apartment complex for surveillance footage. I saw that the adjacent unit where Jonishia lives had a camera pointed from inside their house, outside their front window toward the walkway area. This camera may have caught any subjects that needed to go to Jonishia's unit since you need to walk past this apartment to reach Jonishia's unit. I was unable to contact anyone and left a Renton PD business card on their door. Unit 1 was impounded by Bankers tow for evidence. Unit 2 left the scene under its own power. I completed a SECTOR collision for this incident. I had no further involvement in this case. Please view other officer's reports for more details. This concludes my report.
