EF43956 CASE# 24-11862 OF COLLISION 11/15/24 14:30 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On November 14, 2024, at approximately 1513 hours, I was dispatched to a hit and run collision at the intersection of S 3rd PI and Rainier Ave S, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, I contacted both drivers and confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time of report. There, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit 2 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling northbound in about the 400 block of Rainer Ave S approaching the intersection of S 3rd PL in the number 1 lane. The driver of Unit 2 stated he was intending to continue straight when Unit 1 changed lanes from lane 2 of 2 into lane 1 which Unit 2 was occupying. The driver of Unit 2 was unable to avoid the collision and Unit 1 subsequently collided with Unit 2. Unit 2 suffered minor damage to the front bumper due to the collision. The driver of Unit 1 said he was in the left turn lane facing northbound at the intersection of Rainer Ave S and S 3rd PL. After waiting several minutes for the traffic light to turn green, they decided to avoid the left turn and reenter northbound traffic. The driver of Unit 1 stated that he needed to get into the right turn lane and mentioned he he never saw Unit 2 traveling northbound in the number 1 lane. The driver of Unit 1 stated that while making the lane change, Unit 1 and Unit 2 collided in number 1 lane which unit 2 was occupying. Unit 1 sustained moderate damage to the passenger's doors. Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit 1 is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as the driver violated RCW 46.61.140(1) which states that a vehicle shall be driven as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety. The driver made a lane change into Unit 2's lane of travel which had the right of way and was underway. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties. PAGE 3 OF 4 REPORT NO.
