Protect plant growth and features remaining as final landscaping. B. Protect bench marks and existing work from damage or displacement. C. Maintain designated site access of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. REMOVAL A. Remove debris from site. ® SECTION 02211' - ROUGH GRADING MATERIALS A. Topsoil: Excavated material, graded, free of roots, rocks larger than 112 inch, subsoil, debris, and large weeds. B. Subsoil: Excavated materials, graded, free of lumps larger than 3 inches, rocks larger than 2 inches and debris. PREPARATION A. Identify required lines, levels, contours, and datum. B. Identify known below grade utilities. Stake and flog locations. C. Identify and flag above grade utilities. D. Maintain and protect existing utilities remaining which pass through work area. E. Upon discovery of unknown utility or concealed conditions, discontinue affected work; notify Owner. TOPSOIL EXCAVATION A. Excavate topsoil from areas to be further excavated, relandscaped, or regraded and stockpile in area designated on site. B. Do not excavate wet topsoil. C. Stockpile topsoil to depth not exceeding 8 feet. Protect . from erosion. SUBSOIL EXCAVATION A. Excavate subsoil from areas to be relandscaped or regraded and stockpile in area designated on site. Remove excess subsoil not being reused from site. B. Do not excavate wet subsoil. C. Stockpile subsoil to depth not exceeding 8 feet. D. When excavation through roots is necessary, perform work by hand and cut roots with a sharp axe. TOLERANCES A. Top Surface of Subgrade: Plus or minus one inch. SECTION 02222 _ EXCAVATION__ EXCAVATION A. Excavate subsoil required for foundations, construction operations, and other work. B. Excavation shall not interfere with normal 45 degree bearing splay of any foundation. C. Hand trim excavation and leave free of loose matter. D. Remove lumped .subsoil, boulders, and rock up to 1/3 cu. yd., measured by volume. Notify owner of larger materials encountered. E. Correct unauthorized excavation at no cost to Owner. F. Fill over -excavated areas under structure bearing surfaces. G. Stockpile excavated material in area designated on site and remove excess subsoil not being reused, from site. SECTION 02223 - BACKFILLING SELECT FILL MATERIALS A. Type A - Pea Gravel: Natural stone; washed, free of clay, shale, organic matter; 112 inch minimum to 3/4 inch maximum size. B Type B - Sand: Natural river or bank sand; free of silt, clay, loam, friable or soluble materials, and organic matter; graded within the following limits: Sieve Size Percent Passing No. 4 100 No. 14 10 to 100 No. 50 5 to 90 No. 100 4 to 30 No. 200 0 to 10 COMMON FILL MATERIALS A. Subsoil: Free of gravel larger than :3 inch size, and debris; P.I. not greater than 10, capable of compaction as shown in Schedule. PREPARATION A. When necessary, compact subgrade surfaces to density requirements for backfill materials. B. Cut out soft areas of subgrade not readily capable of insitu compaction. Backfill with Type B fill and compact to density equal to requirements for subsequent backfill material. BACKFILLING A. Backfill areas to contours and elevations. Use unfrozen materials. B. Backfill systematically, as early as possible, to allow moximurn time for natural settlement. Do not backfill over porous, wet, or spongy subgrade surfaces. C. Place and compact select fill materials in continuous layers not exceeding 6 inches loose depth. D. Place and compact common fill material in continuous layers not exceeding 8 inches loose depth. E. Employ a placement method so not to disturb or damage drains or utilities in trenches. F. Maintain optimum moisture content of backfill materials to attain required compaction density. . G Backfill against supported foundation walls. Backfill simultaneously on each side of unsupported foundation walls. H. Slope 94ade away from building minimum 2 inches in 10 feet, unless noted otherwise. I. Make changes in grade gradual. Blend slopes into level areas. J Remove surplus backfill materials. K. Leave stockpile areas completely free of excess fill materials. TOLERANCES A. Top Surface of Backfilling: Plus or minus one inch. COMPACTION TESTING A. Compaction testing will be performed in accordance with ANSI/ASTM D698-. B. If tests indicate work does not meet specified requirements, remove work, replace and retest at no cost to Owner. SCHEDULE OF LOCATIONS A. Fill Under Slab -on -Grade and Foundation Footings: Select subsoil fill to subgrade elevation, each lift 9 inches maximum compacted to 95 percent. Top 4 inches shall be Select Fill Type A. B. Fill Under Sidewalks and drives: Select subsoil fill to subgrade elevation, each lift 9 inches maximum compacted to 95 percent. Cover with Fill Type B, 4 inches thick, compacted to 95 percent. C. Exterior Side of Foundation Walls and Retaining Walls: Subsoil fill to subgrade elevation, each lift compacted to 90 percent. SECTION 02225 - TRENCHING SELECT AND COMMON FILL MATERIALS A. As specified in Section 02223. EXCAVATION A. Excavate subsoil required for utilities to municipal utilities. B. Cut trenches sufficiently wide to enable installation and allow inspection. C. Hand trim excavation and leave free of loose matter. D. Remove lumped subsoil, boulders, and rock up to 1 /3 cu. yd., measured by volume. Notify owner of larger materials. E. Excavation shall not interfere with normal 45 degree bearing splay of foundations. F. Correct unauthorized excavation at no cost to Owner. G. Fill over -excavated areas under pipe bearing surfaces. Place and compact fill materials in continuous layers not exceeding 6 inches loose depth. D. Employ a placement method so not to disturb or damage conduit, duct or pipe in. trench. E. Compaction testing will be performers in accordance with ANSI/ASTM D689. SECTION 03100 - CONCRETE FORMWORK FORM MATERIALS A. Plywood: Douglas Fir species; solid one side grade; sound undamaged sheets with clean true edges. B. Lumber: Douglas Fir species; standard grade; with grade stamp clearly visible. FORMWORK ACCESSORIES A. Form Ties: Snap -off metal type of length; minimum working strength of 3000 psi when assembled; free of defects that will leave holes not larger than 1 inch in concrete surface. B. ' Form Release Agent: Colorless mineral oil which will not stain concrete or impair natural bonding or color characteristics of coating intended for use on concrete FORMWORK ERECTION A. Verify lines, levels and centers before proceeding with formwork. Ensure that dimensions agree with drawings. B. Construct and remove formwork, shoring and bracing in accordance with ACI 347 so that resultant finished concrete conforms to required shapes, lines and dimensions. C. Provide 3/4 inch chamfer on all exposed edges of concrete unless noted otherwise. D. Recess slipform coil loops 1/4 inch minimum. SECTION 03200 - CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT REINFORCING A. Reinforcing Steel: ASTM A615, 60 ksi yield grade; deformed billet steel bars, unfinished. Number 3 bars may be 40 ksi yield grade. B. Welded Steel Wire Fabric: ASTM A185 Plain type; in flat sheets; unfinished. INSTALL%TION A. Fc3ricote and place concrete reinforcing in accordance with ACI 318. B. Place reinforcing at no less than the following distances from cost -in -place concrete surfaces unless noted otherwise: 1. Walls: 2 inches 2 Beams and columns: 1 112 inches 3. Bottom of footings: 3 inches 4. Slob -on -grade: 2 inches from top 5. Supported slabs: 1 inch C. Pr)vide bent bars at corners. U. Lo;ate reinforcing splices, not indicated on drawings, at punts of minimum stress. E. Lar reinforcing splices 30 bar diameters or 12 inches, which ever is greater, unless shown otherwise on Drawings. F. Bars spliced at locations other than those shown on Drawings shall be lap spliced a distance as given below. For horizontal bars with more than 12 inches of concrete cast b0ow, use 1.4 times these distances. 1. No. 3 bars: 15 inches 2. No. 4 bars: 20 inches 3. No. 5 bars: 26 inches 4. No. 6 bars: 31 inches G. Dc not tack weld reinforcing in any manner unless approved by Architect/Engineer. H. Support reinforcing in footings from above while pouring cmcrete. I. Lop edge and end splices of welded wire fabric a minimum of ore full mesh. Wire all laps securely together. O SECTION 0.3251 -- EXPANSION AND CONTRACTION JOINTS MATERIALS A. Foimed Construction Joints: Galvanized steel, tongue and groove type; knockout holes spaced at 6 inches o.c. to receive smooth doweling; with anchors. B. Joint Filler: ANSI/ASTM D994, bituminous impregnated fiberboard; 1 /2" x 4" or as detailed. INSTALLATION A. Install joint fillers and sealants in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions. Use primers of type recommended by joint filler/sealant manufacturer. SECTION 03300 - CAST- IN-PLAC F (-ONCRETE CONCRETE MATERIALS A. Cement: normal -type I Portland type, ASTM C150. B. Fine and Coarse Aggregates: ASTM C33. C. Water: clean, and free frorn injurious amount of oil, alkali, organic matter, or other deleterious material. ADMIXTURES A. Air Entrainment: ASTM C260. ACCESSORIES A. Bonding Agent: two component modified epoxy resin; manufactured by Burke Company, Son Mateo, California. B. Non -shrink Grout: premixed compound consisting of non- metallic aggregate, cement, water reducing and plasticizing agents; capable of developing minimum compressive strength of 2400 psi in 2 days and 7000 psi in 28 days. C. Vapor Barrier: 6 mil thick clear polyethylene film. Type recommended for below grade application. CONCRETE MIXES A. Mix and deliver concrete in accordance with ASTM C94. B. Provide concrete of following strength: 1. Compressive strength 2500 psi 28 day. 2. Select proportions for normal weight concrete in accordance with ACI 318. PLACING CONCRETE A. Place concrete in accordance with ACI 301 and ACI 306, il SECTION 03346 - CONCRETE FINISHING MATERIALS A. Curing Compound: ASTM C309, Type 1, Class A; clear; as manufactured by SonnebQrne Building Products or equal. FLOOR FINISHING A. Finish concrete sidewalk surfaces in accordance with ACI 301. B. Broom finish surfaces which will be left exposed. C. Apply curing compound on finished sidewalk surfaces. Apply in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. SECTION 04100 - MORTAR MATERIALS A. Portland Cement: ASTM C150, normal -Type I; gray color. B. Masonry Cement: ASTM C91, for general use. C. Mortar Aggregate: ASTM C144, standard masonry type; clean, dry, protected against dampness, freezing, and foreign matter. D. Hydrated Lime: ASTM C207 Type S, E. Quicklime: ASTM C5, non -hydraulic type. F. Premix Mortar: ASTM C387, using gray cement. G. Water: Clean and potable. 11. Mortar for Non -load Bearing Walls and Partitions: ASTM C270, Type S. SECTION 04450 - NATURAL STONE VENEER STONE A. Exterior Granite: ASTM C615; National Building Granite Quarries Association, polished and honed surfaces, free of cracks, seams, or starts detrimental .to structural integrity or function. B. Thickness: 3/4 inch thick unless otherwise indicated. C. Field Color: As selected on Drawings. D. Border Color: As selected on Drawings. ACCESSORY MATERIALS A. Anchors, Dowels, and Ties: Brass; of sizes and configurations required for support of stone and applicable superimposed loads. B. Fasteners: Bolts, washers and nuts, galvanized. C. Lifting Hooks: Removable type for panels in excess of 75 lbs. D. Sealant: Joint type specified in Section 07900. E. Mortar: As specified in Section 04100. INSTALLATION A. Erect stone in accordance with stone supplier's instructions. B. Setting plaster is not acceptable. SECTION 07531 - ELASTOMERIC SHEET ROOFING - FULLY ADHERED MEMBRANE, ADHESIVE, AND ASSOCIATED MATERIALS A. Membrane: EPDM; .045 inches thick, RubberGard fully adhered roofing system manufacured by Firestone. B. Substitutions: Items of some function and performance are - acceptable. MEMBRANE APPLICATION A. Apply membrane in acordance with manufacturer's instructions for direct application to concrete substrate. B. Coordinate installation of roof drains and related flashings. WARRANTY A Provide ten year warranty for materials and installation. B. Warronty: Cover damage to work resulting from failure to resist penetration of moisture. *SECTION 07620 - SHEET METAL FLASHING AND TRIM SHEET MATERIAL A. Prefinished Steel: AISI G90 minimum 24 gage primed on both sides and finished on one side with fluoropolymer coating: ColorKlad as manufactured by Vincent Brass and Aluminum Company. B. Substitutions: Items of same function and performance are acceptable. FABRICATION A. Form setions true to shape, accurate in size, square, and free from distortion or defects in longest practical lenghts. INSTALLATION A. Conform to Drawing details and sheet metal and roofing materials manufacturer's details. SECTION 07900 - JOINT SEALANTS SEALANT MATERIALS A. Sealant: Polysulphide base, single component, chemical curing-, conforming to requirements of FS TT-S-230, Type II, Class A; Shore A hardness of minimum 15 and maximum 50; non- staining and non -bleeding; color as selected. B. Sealant: Acrylic emulsion base, single component, capable of withstanding movement of up to 7.5 percent of joint width and satisfactorily applied throughout a temperature range of 40 to 80 degrees F; Shore A hardness of maximum 60; non- staining; non -bleeding; non-sogging; color as selected. C. Joint Filler: ASTM D1056, round, closed cell polyethylene tocim rod, oversized 30 to 50 percent. is SEC rION 09835 - TEXTURED PLASTIC COA TINGS MATERIALS A. Polymer Stucco: High -build, textured coating; flexible acrylic polymer film base, weather resistant color pigments, fillers, and graded aggregate; color -selected by Owner; Thoroseal manufactured by Thoro System Products. B. Substitutions: Items of some function and performance are acceptable. APPLICATION A. Apply finish coating in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. B. Finish: Sprayed on top coat over troweled base coat. C. Finish shall be free of all blemishes. SECTION 10990 - CRYPT SEALERS MATERIALS A. High impact, high density plastic units; smooth face, ribbed construction back: 33 x 26 112 inch, 5 pounds, color to match concrete, manufactured by C. A. Joseph Co., Liverpool, Ohio. B. Substitutions: Items of some function and performance are acceptable. INSTALLATION A. Install sealers in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. SECTION 15010 - MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS REGULATIONS A. Comply with State Public Health Requirements. B. Comply with all local, state and national codes, including applicable ASME and NFPA requirements and local utility company requirements. In absence of applicable local or state regulations, conform to the applicable portions of BOCA/1984 Mechanical/Plumbing Code for minimum requirements. C. Comply with regulations of services and other authorities having jurisdiction. In case of conflict, highest standard applies. SECTION 15410 - PLUMBING PIPING PRODUCTS A. Waste and Vent Piping: ASTM D1785 - Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Plastic Pipe, Schedule 40. B. Storm Waster Piping (Roof Drains): ASTM D1785 Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC) Plastic Pipe, Schedule 40. EXECUTION A. Form joints in PVC pipe and fittings with Elostomeric Seals. B. Trenching and backfilling shall be preformed in accordance with sections 02223 and 02225. C. Drain lines 3" or less shall be sloped 1/4" per foot SECTION 15430 - PLUMBING SPECIALTIES PRODUCTS A. Roof drains: ZURN Z-101 with deck clamp or an approved substitute; high grade, even grained metal, free from blow- holes, porosity, hard spots, excessive shrinkage, cracks or other injurious defects, smooth and well cleaned both inside and outside, with all fins and roughness removed, not less than 1/4 inch wall thickness, size and type determined,by branch sizes indicated on the drawings. B. Roof vent caps: High density PVC Plastic vapor relief vents for crypts. Provide heavy fine aluminum screen. Maintenance free construction and all black uniform design manufactured by C. A. Joseph Company. SECTION 16010 - BASIC ELECTRICAL REQUIREMENTS REFERENCES A. ANSI/IEEE C2 - National Electrical Safety Code. B. ANSI/NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code. C. NECA - Standard of Installation. Install work using procedures defined in NECA Standard of Installation. D. Conform to ANSI/NFPA 70. MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT A. Materials and Equipment. Acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction as suitable for the use intended. Include certificate of final inspection and acceptance from authority having jurisdiction. SECTION 16111 - CONDUIT MATERIALS AND COMPONENTS A. Conduit: PVC; schedule 40, in concrete. PVC; schedule 80 where exposed. B. Couplings: Glued. INSTALLATION A. Install conduit free from dents and bruises. Plug ends to prevent entry of dirt or moisture. B. Clean out conduit before installation of conductor. C. Alter conduit routing to avoid structural obstructions. D. Utilize conduit expansion fittings when conduit run crosses building expansion joints. SECTION 16120 - WIRES AND CABLES MATERIALS A. Building Wiring: 98 percent conductivity copper, 600 volt insulation, TWH and XHHW. B. Branch Circuit Wiring: Minimum 12 AWG gage unless otherwise noted. INSTALLATION A. Lace or clip groups of feeder conductors at distribution centers, pullboxes, and wireways. B. Provide copper grounding conductors and straps. C. Install wire and cable in code conforming raceway. D. Install wire in conduit runs after moisture is swabbed from conduits. E. Splice only in accessible junction or outlet boxes. SECTION 16131 - PULL AND .1t INC TION HO'AL ', MATERIALS A.
