FABRICATION FOR REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER T OF THE CURRENT
C.R-S.I. MANUAL OF STANDARD PRACTICE.
REINFORCEMENT WIRE BAR SUPPORTS THAT ARE IN CONTACT WITH FORMS SHALL BE CLASS 1.
PLASTIC PROTECTED. IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 3 OF THE CURRENT C.R.5.1. MANUAL
OF STANDARD PRACTICE.
4. CAST_,j1�-PLACE CO C1CRETE: ALL CONCRETE, CONCRETE WORK AND PLACEMENT OF REINFORCEMENT SHALL
BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIAL PROVISION. U.N.O. DETAILED FALSEWORK PLANS. IN
ACCORDANCE WITH PARAGRAPH 2.11 OF SPECIAL PROVISION 6-U2, ARE REQUIRED AS NECESSARY. ALL
E,iPOSED CONCRETE SURFACES SHALL RECEIVE A PIGMENTED SEALER FOR CONCRETE SURFACES IN
CONFORMANCE WITH WSDOT SPECIFICATION 6-02.3(14)C AND OF WSDOT COLOR "WASHINGTON GRAY".
THE PORTLAND CEMENT USED IN ALL CONCRETE SHALL BE TYPE II OR TYPE IIA. ALL CONCRETE SHALL
BE AIR -ENTRAINED CONTAINING NOT LE5 THAN 5 PERCENT NOR MORE THAN 7 PERCENT AIR BY VOLUME.
CONCRETE SHALL BE CLASS 40. IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIAL PROVISION 6-02. WITH AN ULTIMATE
COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF NOT LESS THAT 4000 PSI IN 28 DAYS, MAXIMUM SIZE OF COARSE
AGGREGATE SHALL BE ONE INCH. THE MINIMUM CONCRETE COVER ON REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE TWO
INCHES UNLESS INDICATED OTHERWISE. Eti'POS6D CONCRETE EDGES SHALL BE BEVELED ale.
IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE A STRUCTURE WITH LIMITED SHRINKAGE
CRACKS. THE CONTRACTOR WILL DEVELOP A PROCEDURE THAT, DURING THE PERIOD OF HEAT DISSIPATION
FOLLOWING CONCRETE PLACEMENT. THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENTJAL BETWEEN THE INTERIOR OF THE SECTION
AND THE OUTSIDE SURFACE OF THE SECTION COMPLIES WITH THE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS. THE MAXIMUM
TEMPERATURE SHALL BE 160 DEGREES F. PROCEDURES OPEN TO THE CONTRACTOR INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT
LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
COOLING COMPONENT MATERIALS PRIOR TO ADDITION OF MIX
ADDING ICE TO THE MIX WATER
CONTROLLING RAZE OF CONCRETE PLACEMENT
USING LOW OR MODERATE HEAT OF HYDRATION CEMENT
OTHER ACCEPTABLE METHODS DEVELOPED BY THE CONTRACTOR
ALIERNATE DIRECTION AND LOCATION OF HOOKED ENDS FOR "K" BARS.
5. PERVIOUS RACKFIII MATERIAL BEHIND A&TffA 5: PERVIOUS BACKFILL MATERIAL BEHIND ABUTMENTS
SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS.
6. ELLING: PILES SHALL MEET THE MATERIAL REQUIREMENTS OF A.S.T.M. A25E. GRADE 3 AHD SHALL
BE DRIVEN IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIAL PROVISION 6-05. ALL PILES ARE TO BE DRIVEN WITH CAST
STEEL CONICAL PILE POINTS. PIPE PILES SHALL BE DRIVEN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DETAILS
AND NOTES ON RA-12 AND RA-13.
AFTER PILES ARE DRIVEN. THEY SHALL BE CUT OFF AT THE PROPER ELEVATION. THE SPECIFIED SHEAR
STUDS SHALL THEN BE WELDED TO THE PILE AT EVEN SPACING 1N ACCORDANCE WITH THE DETAILS ON RA-s3,
THE DESIGNATED REINFORCING CAGE SHALL BE CENTERED IN EACH PILE. EACH PILE SHALL THEN BE FILLED
WITH WSDOT CLASS 4000? CONCRETE HAVING AN ULTIMATE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH HOT LESS THAN 4000 P.S.I.
IN 28 DAYS.
7. DAHPPROOFING: THE BACK FACE OF THE ABUTMENT STEMS, 9ACKWALLS. AND WINGWALLS SHALL BE DAMPPROOFED
iN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS,
8. ELASTOMERIC BEARING PADS: ELASTOMERIC BEARING PADS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIAL
PROVISIONS.
9, HANDRAIL: HANDRAIL PANELS ON WALKWAYS ;HALL BE ERECTED PLUMB AND 1N LINE.
10. REPAIR OF DAMAGED -GALVANIZED SURFACES: DAMAGED GALVANIZED SURFACES SHALL BE THORUUGHLY
CLEANED TO REMOVE ALL CONTAMINANTS INCLUDING WELD SLAG. WELD SPATTER AND RUST AND
SHALL THEN BE PAINTED WITH TWO COATS OF ZINC DUST - ZINC OXIDE, TYPE 1, LINSEED OIL PAINT
MEETING FEDERAL SPECIFICATION TT-P-641.
IT. UOIH7 WATERPROOFING: THE CONSTRUCTION JOINF BEfWEEN EACH FOOTING AND STEM SHALL BE
WATERPROOFED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS.
12. BRIDGE DECK WAIFRPRODFINC_ SEE SHEET RA-43 AND RA-44 FOR WATERPROOFING DETAILS AND NOTES.

FIT TIGHT AGAINST THE BEAMS AND CURBS.
14. STRUCTURAL STEEL: ALL MATERIALS, FABRICATION, AND ERECTION SHALL BE 1N ACCORDANCE
WITH CHAPTER 15 OF THE CURRENT A.R.E.M.A. MANUAL FOR RAILWAY ENGINEERING AND THE
SPECIAL PROVISIONS.
ALL WELDING OPERATION PROCESSES. EQUIPMENT, MATERIAL. OUALIFICATIONS OF WELDERS,
WORKMANSHIP. TESTING AND INSPECTION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT A.R.E.M.A.
MANUAL AND CURRENT AWS STOUCTUR% WELDING CODE 61.5. ALL WELD MLIAL MUST BE EQUIVALENT
TO OR STRONGER THAN THE BASE METAL IN STRENGTH AND APPEARANCE. FIELD WELDING OF CONSTRUCTION
ACCESSORIES TO THE BEAMS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED. ALL HOP AND FIELD WE DING SHALL BE

STRUCTURAL STEEL FABRICATORS SHALL BE CERTIFIED UNDER THE AISC DUALITY CERTIFICATION
PROGRAM FOR "MAJOR STEEL BRIDGES", OR ANOTHER SUITABLE PROGRAM AS DETERMINED BY THE ENGINEER.
ALL STRUCTURAL STEEL STALL CONFORM TO ASTM A709. GRADE 50, UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. ZONE 2
CONDITIONS CONTROL FOR CHARPY V-NOTCH TESTING (CVN).
BEAMS AND BEARING STIFFENERS SHALL BE TESTED {CVNi ZONE 2, ACCORDING TO A.R.E.M.A. TABLE
15-1-2. ZONE 2. H FREQUENCY IN ACCURDANCE WITH ASTM A673. BALLAST PLATE. DIAPHRAGMS AND
OTHER SECONDARY MEMBER SHALL BE EXEMPT FROM IMPACT TEST REQUIREMENTS.
FASTENERS SHALL BE ASTM A325 SLIP CRITICAL CLASS A HEAVY HE! HIGH STRENGTHi BOLTS. TYPE 1.
BOLTS 7/8" OIA., OPEN HOLES 15/16' DIA. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. BOLTED CONNECTIONS SHALL
USE ASTM A563. GRADE C3. HEAVY ILEX NUTS AND ASTM F436 HARDENED STEEL WASHERS FOR HIGH
STRENGTH BOLTS UNDER THE TURNED ELEMENT. HIGH STRENGTH BOLTS SHALL BE TIGHTENED BY THE
"TURN-DF-NUT" METHOD TO OBTAIN PROPER BOLT TENSION.
BEARING PLATES ARE TO BE FLAT AND LEVEL AFTER WELDING.

CORNER CLIPS TO BE 1" X I". UNLESS OTHERWISE SHOWN. ALL HOLES THROUGH MAIN STRUCTURAL
