PERFORMANCE TEST PROCEDURE
1. THE PERFORMANCE TEST SHALL BE NAVE BY INCREMENTALLY
LOADING AND UNLOADING THE GROUND ANCHORS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE.

REDUCE TO LOCK-GFF LUAU
2. THE ANCHOR MOVEMENTS SHALL BE MEASURED FROM THE INITIAL
ALIGNMENT LOAD AND RECORDED TO THE NEAREST .001 INCHES
WITH RESPECT TO AN INDEPENDENT FIXED REFERENCE POINT AT THE
ALIGNMENT LOAD AND AT EACH INCREMENT OF LOAD. THE ALIGNMENT
LOAD 15 A NOMINAL LOAD MAINTAINED ON THE SOIL ANCHOR TO KEEP
THE TESTING EQUIPMENT IN POSITION.
3. THE TEST LOAD SHALL BE MONITORED WITH A PRESSURE GAUGE.
A REFERENCE GAUGE SHALL BE PLACED IN A SERIES WITH THE
PRE55ME GAUGE DURING EACH PERFORMANCE TEST. IF THE
REFERENCE PRESSURE GAUGE AND THE PRESSURE GAUGE READINGS
DIFFER BY MORE THAN 10 PERCENT: THE JACK, PRESSURE CAUGE.
AND REFERENCE GAUGE SHALL BE RECALIaRATED. AT LOAD
INCREMENTS OTHER THAN THE MAXIMUM LOAD. THE LOAD SHALL BE
HELD JUST LONG ENOUGH TO OBTAIN THE MOVEMENT READING, BUT NO
MORE THAN ONE MINUTE.
4. THE PUMP SHALL BE CAPABLE OF APPLYING EACH LOAD INCREMENT IN
LESS THAN 60 SECONDS.
5. THE WIMUM TEST LOAD 1N A PERFORMANCE TEST SHALL BE HELD
FOR 10 MINUTES. THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT WITH RESPECT TO A FIXED
REFERENCE SHALL BE MEASURED AND RECORDED AT 1 MINUTE, 2, 3,
4. 5. 6 AND 10 MINUTES. IF THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT BETNEENI
MINUTE AND 10 MINUTES EXCEEDS 0.04 INCHES, THE MAXIMUM TEST
LOAD SHALL BE HELD FOR AN ADDITIONAL 50 MINUTES. IF THE
LOAD HOLD IS EXTENDED. THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT SHALL BE RECORDED
AT 15 MINUTES. 20, 25. 30, 45 AND 60 MINUTES. THE LOAD HOLD
114E SHALL BEGIN WHEN THE PUMP STARTS TO RAISE THE LOAD
FROM THE 1.200L LOAD INCREMENT TO THE 1.330E LOAD
INCREMENT,
6. LOCK -OFF THE LOAD AT 100% OF THE DESIGN LOAD UNLESS NOTED
OTHERWISE. (SEE THE GROIN ANCHOR SUMMARY TABLE,)
7. PLOT THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT VERSUS LOAD FOR EACH LUAU
INCREMENT MARKED WITH AN ASTERISK Is) IN THE PERFORMANCE
TEST SCHEDULE AND PLOT THE RESIDUAL MOVEMENT OF THE ANCHOR
AT EACH ALIGNMENT LOAD VERSUS THE HIGHEST PREVIOUSLY APPLIED
LOAD. GRAPH FORMAT SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER PRIOR
TO USE,
8. A PERFORMANCE TESTED GROUND ANCHOR WITH A 10 MINUTE LOAD
HOLD IS ACCEPTABLE IF:
a. THE ANCHOR WILL CARRY THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD WITH
LESS THAN 0.04 INCHES OF MOVEMENT OETNEEN 1 MINUTE
AND 10 MINUTES, AND
b. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD EXCEEDS
80 PERCENT OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION
OF THE UNBONDEO LENGTH. AND
c. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD DOES NOT
EXCEED THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBOWED LENGTH PLUS 50% OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC
ELONGATION OF THE 813NDED LENGTH.
9. A PERFORMANCE TESTED GROUND ANCHOR WITH A 60 MINUTE LOAD
HOLD IS ACCEPTABLE IF:
a. THE ANCHOR WILL CARRY THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD WITH LESS
THAN 0.00 INCHES OF MOVEMENT BETWEEN 6 MINUTES AND 60
MINUTES, AND
b, THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD EXCEEDS
80 PERCENT OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNDONOED LENGTH, AND
c. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD DOES NOT
EXCEED THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBONOED tENGTH PLUS 50% OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC
ELONGATION OF THE BONDED LENGTH.
IO. SEE GROUND ANCHOR SPECIFICATION 6-17 AMA 6-19 IN THE SPECIAL
PROVISIONS FOR COMPLETE GROUND ANCHOR REQUIREMENTS AND
PROCEDURES REGARDING ANCHORS THAT HAVE UNACCEPTABLE MOVEMENTS.

MINUTE AND 10 MINUTES EXCEEDS 0.04 INCHES, THE MAXIMUM TEST
LOAD SHALL BE HELD FOR AN ADDITIONAL 50 MINUTES. IF THE
LOAD HOLD 15 EXTENDEOI THE ANCHOR MOVEMENT SHALL RE RECORDED
AT 15 MINUTES, 20, 25, 30, 45 AND 60 MINUTES. THE LOAD HOLD
TIME SHALL BEGIN WHEN THE PUMP STARTS TO RAISE THE LOAD FROM
THE 1.20DL LOAD INCREMENT TO THE 1.33DL LOAD INCREMENT.
G. LOCK -OFF THE LOAD AT 100% OF THE DESIGN LOAD UNLESS NOTED
OTHERWISE. SSEE THE GROUND ANCHOR SUMMARY TABLE.,
7. PLOT IRE ANCHOR MOVEMENT VERSUS LOAD FOR EACH LOAD INCREMENT
GRAPH FORMAT SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO USE.
8. A PROOF TESTED GROUND ANCHOR WITH A 10 MINUTE LOAD HOLD IS
ACCEPTABLE IF:
a. THE ANCHOR WILL CARRY THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD WITH LESS
THAN 0.94 INCHES OF MOVEMENT BETWEEN 1 MINUTE AND 10
MINUTES, AND
b. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD EXCEEDS
80 PERCENT OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBOWED LENGTH, AND
c. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD DOES NOT
EXCEED THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBONQEn LENGTH PLUS 50% OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC
ELONGATION OF THE BONDED LENGTH.
A PROOF TESTED GROUND ANCHOR WITH A 60 MINUTE LDAO HOLD
IS ACCEPTABLE IF:
a. THE ANCHOR WILL CARRY THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD WITH LESS
THAN 0.08 INCHES OF MOVEMENT BETWEEN 6 MINUTES AND 60
MINUTES. AND
b. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD EXCEEDS
80 PERCENT OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBDNOED LENGTH. AND
c. THE TOTAL MOVEMENT AT THE MAXIMUM TEST LOAD DOES NOT
EXCEED THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC ELONGATION OF THE
UNBONDED LENGTH PLUS 50% OF THE THEORETICAL ELASTIC
ELONGATION OF THE BONDED LENGTH.
10. SEE GROUND ANCHOR SPECIFICATION 6-17 AND 6-19 IN THE SPECIAL
PROVISIONS FOR COMPLETE GROUND ANCHOR REQUIREMENTS AND
PROCEDURES REGARDING ANCHORS THAT HAVE UNACCEPTABLE MOVEMENTS.
11. EACH PRODUCTION ANCHOR SHALL BE PROOF TESTED.
