DLState DLExp Address Primary Phone&Type AdditionalContact Number&Type Additional Contact Number&Type Race Sex DOB- Height Weight Even Hair Collision 2025-00000650 Paqe 2 OF 6 Case Number 2025-00000650 Officer Narrative Narrative SGT KORDEL NARRATIVE 2025-650 On 01-20-2025 at 1323 hours, I was dispatched to a phone report regarding a hit and run collision that occurred at the Marshalls retail store parking lot, 825 N Landing Way in the City of Renton, King County, WA State. I phoned victim Mirsada Avdic, who told me the following: Earlier today, Avdic parked her new 2025 Honda Accord (WA license CRK0357) in a disabled parking stall in front of Marshalls. There was no damage to the new Accord prior to her parking. When Avdic came outside back to her vehicle, there was a new dent in the left rear bumper area. Avdic found a note on her car from a witness named Mae. The note stated that Mae saw who backed into the Accord, and got the license plate of the suspect vehicle (CHN8099). Avdic phoned Mae, who told her that she (Mae) took photos and also got the name and phone number of the suspect. Avdic provided me with Mae's phone number. Avdic wished to pursue criminal charges. I checked WA DOL records for CHN8099, and saw it was a gray 2009 Nissan Murano owned by Ali Akbari (10-01-1999), Kent address 23240 88th Ave S#AA103. I next phoned Mae, who verbally identified herself as Charissa-Mae M Bautista (09-09-1995). She told me that she was in the parking lot of Marshalls at 1125 hours when she saw a Nissan Murano with license plate CHN8099 back into a Honda Accord with license plate CRK0357. The Accord was parked in a disabled parking stall in front of Marshalls, face in. It was unoccupied. The sole occupant of the Murano was a female driver. She pulled into a parking stall across from the Accord. The driver then backed up to reposition her Murano. In the process, the Murano backed into the Accord. The Murano then pulled back into a parking stall across from the Accord. Mae told me that the collision caused damage to the rear left of the Accord and to the rear right of the Murano. It was significant enough, according to Mae, that the driver should have clearly known that she had caused a collision. The female driver of the Murano walked into Marshalls without even taking any notice to the collision she just caused. Mae caught up with this driver, and explained to her that she witnessed the driver backing into another car. However, when Mae started showing her photos that Mae took of the damages, the driver said she didn't understand and said she was sorry. Mae asked for the driver's name and phone number. The driver said "Asiyeh 253-452-7280." The driver told Mae that she had insurance, but didn't show it to her. Mae described the driver as having medium to short black hair, 5-07/150, and wearing an unknown color jacket. I sent Mae a link via email for her to upload her photos she took of the damages to both vehicles. I checked WA DOL records for anyone named Asiyeh that lived at the same Kent address as the registered owner. WA DOL showed that Asiyeh Akbari (03-30-1985) lived at the same address, but a different apartment: 23240 88th Ave S#UU-302. Note: Asiyeh has the same last name as the registered owner of the Murano. I next drove to Avdic's house. I verified the damage to her Accord, and took a couple photos which I later uploaded into the case. She showed me her insurance card: State Farm policy 1181447-A02-47A. At 1745 hours, I checked the parking lots by the AA and UU buildings at the aforementioned Kent address for the Murano. I could not locate it. On 01-21-2025 at 1511 hours, Mae uploaded the two photos she took. I wasn't working this date, but viewed the photos on my next day back to work on 01-22-2025 at 1000 hours. The Nissan Murano had slight damage to the rear right corner and the damage to the Accord was consistent with what I saw in person and took photos of on 01-20-2025. The damages to the vehicles is consistent with what Mae described to me: the Murano backing into the Accord. On 01-22-2025 at 1038 hours, I went to Asiyeh Akbari's Kent address and saw the Murano parked in a parking stall a couple buildings to the east of the UU building. I saw the same slight damage to the rear right corner as in the photo that Mae took. I took photos of the Murano, including the damage from this Renton case and also slight damage to the front right and rear left corners of the Murano. I asked for another Officer to back me in contacting Asiyeh. Officer Nugent arrived at 1045 hours. We were both wearing Police uniforms with body cams affixed to our chest areas. I knocked on the door and rang the door bell. Asiyeh Akbari answered the door. I asked if we could come inside and talk to her. She allowed us inside. We stood just inside the apartment, adjacent to the front door. I told Asiyeh that we were audio/video recording. Asiyeh acknowledged driving her brother's gray Nissan Murano to the parking lot of Marshalls in Renton on the morning of 01-20-2025. It was clear to me that Asiyeh's primary language was not English, but I did not have any issues understanding her and she appeared to understand me. My questions were very simple. Asiyeh told me that she pulled into a parking stall that was tight with cars on both sides. She acknowledged backing up, but said that she did not believe she struck any vehicle. She said that a woman approached her afterward, and that Asiyeh gave this woman her name and phone number. Asiyeh agreed to get her driver's license. She went to one of the rooms down the hall, and returned with her WA DOS photo license. She allowed me to take a photo of her holding her driver's license. She also allowed me to take a photo of her insurance information on her phone. She said her insurance is Farmers. The phone screen shots showed the policy number as G01-3204120-3. It showed that Asiyeh was one of the covered drivers. During the later part of our conversation, Asiyeh wanted to utilize her phone app to have me clarify some items in our conversation. Asiyeh said her primary language is Persian. I explained to Asiyeh that she had an obligation to exchange her information with the owner of the vehicle she struck or leave a note. I explained to Asiyeh that she would be receiving a ticket to her address for Hit & Run. Asiyeh again explained to me that she didn't know she struck any vehicle, and that she gave her name and phone number to a woman who contacted her and that nobody called her back. It's important to note that Asiyeh told me (without any prompting on my part) that she was playing loud music when she parked the Murano. Refer to the body cam footage to show context and detail of the communication between Asiyeh and me. I returned to Renton and phoned victim Mirsada Avdic to let her know the update in my investigation. Avdic confirmed that she still wanted to pursue criminal charges for Hit & Run. Although Asiyeh did provide a name and phone number to a witness of this collision, that was only after the witness pursued Asiyeh after she walked away from the collision. And, according to Asiyeh herself, she claimed that she did not know she struck a vehicle so had the witness not contacted her, one can make a relatively same assumption that Asiyeh had no intention of complying with the RCW duties after she collided with another unoccupied vehicle. I cited Asiyeh via complaint for violating RCW 46.52.010, Hit & Run of an unattended vehicle under SECTOR citation 5A0215229. I also checked Marshalls for any clear and obvious exterior camera that would have captured the collision.
