Narrative
On 01-23-2025 at 0908 hours I was dispatched to a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic accident at SW 7th ST and
Rainier Ave S in the city of Renton, King County WA. I contacted the driver of the vehicle and reporting party
Jean Daniels at the northwest corner of the intersection. She stated she struck a pedestrian with her vehicle
mirror and he walked off eastbound toward the Hyundai dealership.The man was described as a black male
with black pants and grey sweatshirt. I conducted an area check at the dealership and the transit center but
was unable to locate the subject.
I returned to Daniels who told me the following:
Daniels had a green light at S 7th ST and Rainier Ave S. She proceeded westbound and crossed Rainier Ave S.
As she got to the cross walk area on the west side of the street she struck a pedestrian with her vehicle mirror.
She never seen it coming and was very concerned for his welfare. Daniel's mirror was shattered and broken off
the base. I took photos and gave her the case number.
I contacted a witness, Ryan Jacobs who stated the man wasn't acting normal and just jumped into the road.
After the collision the man just walked off.Jacobs' stated he was parked in the parking lot at the northwest
corner of the intersection.
While speaking with Daniel's a man was walking by matching the description of the pedestrian who was acting
odd. I asked Daniels if that was the man, she believed it was. I made contact with the male who stated he was
hit by a car. He said he wasn't injured and didn't want medical attention. He said it was his fault and he wasn't
watching where he was going. I asked if he needed a ride home or anything, he didn't reply and skipped off
down the sidewalk.The male was identified by his WA ID card as Thamasgen Kirk.
