Narrative
During this incident, )was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video. Portions
of this incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an
exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system.
was operating a fully marked Police Tahoe#320 which was equipped with overhead emergency lights and
sirens.
Case Number 25-983
On 01/30/2025 at approximately 1740 hours, I on viewed a minor collision in the 700 block of S Grady Way,
within the City of Renton, King County,Washington.
I identified unit 1 in this collision as a 2015 Toyota Prius (WA/Lic: BMS1392 Vin#JTDKN3DUXF1905051).The
driver of unit 1 was identified as Biruk M Wodaj (DOB 07/06/1984). Unit 1 sustained minor scrapes on the
driver's side and was able to leave under its own power.
I identified unit 2 in this collision as a 2014 Hyundai Elantra (WA/Lic:ASA1449 Vin#KMHD35LH6EU220942).
The driver of unit 2 was identified as Kim M Camara (DOB 08/14/1959). Unit 2 sustained minor damage to the
passenger side and was able to leave under its own power.
No injuries were reported in this collision.
I observed the following:
Both units were traveling westbound in about the 700 block of S Grady Way, unit 1 was in the lane nearest to
the curb and unit 2 was in the lane nearest center.A Metro bus in front of unit 1 came to a stop so unit 1
began merging to the lane nearest center. Unit 1 failed to check its blind spot and collided with unit 2.The
proximate cause of this collision was unit 1 not verifying that the lane was clear prior to switching lanes.
