On January 31, 2025, at 1318 hours dispatch requested that I respond to a hit and run collision that occurred
at LA Fitness, 715 N Landing Way, in the city of Renton, county of King, and State of Washington.A witness,
identified verbally as Marin Hooker, reported that he witnessed a white Dodge Dart bearing Washington
plates CNG9372 hit a parked Toyota Prius. After the collision occurred,the Dodge Dart fled the scene in an
unknown direction.
The Toyota Prius had a Washington plate of CJJ3279.
Marin told me over the phone that the Toyota Prius sustained damage on the rear driver's side bumper and
mentioned that the Dodge Dart would have damage on its front passenger side bumper. Marin also stated
that he would not be able to identify the suspect if seen again.
Initially, I attempted to contact the owner of the Prius, but I was unable to since the owner/driver were most
likely inside LA Fitness. I did see noticeable damage around rear drivers side bumper and I believe the damage
was less than $1000.
1 drove to the registered address of the Dodge Dart,446 Wells Ave N, unit#3.There I knocked on the front
door and spoke with a man named Obet Sanchez-Contreras (07/07/2006). 1 advised him of my visit, and Obet
immediately admitted fault. He stated he attempted to park next to the Toyota Prius, but gauged the distance
wrong, striking the parked car. He then became nervous and fled because he did not have insurance.
He provided me with his information and apologized for his actions.
I located the Dodge Dart on N 5th St. I did observe damage to the front passenger side bumper. I also
concluded that the damage was less than $1000. 1 photographed the vehicle and attached them to Axon.
Later, I contacted the owner of the Prius and gave him with my information and case number.The owner,
identified as Tien V. Nguyen (06/15/1982), stated he understood and would contact his insurance company.
No criminal charges were pressed against Obet Sanchez-Contreras.
