Narrative
ASSIGNMENT/ARRIVAL
On 02/03/2025 at approximately 0934 hours, I was dispatched to a collision near the intersection of Cedar
Avenue S and S 7th Street in the city of Renton, King County, Washington.
A reporting party said a vehicle slid down the hill, hit a pole, and down a the hill near an apartment complex.
UNIT 1: RIVIAN R1T
Upon arrival I observed a black Rivian R1T(Unit 1, WA/ D94367D) down a hill and in the bushes west of the
intersection of S 7th Street and Cedar Avenue S,just south of the Cedar Crest Apartments at 629 Cedar
Avenue S.
Unit 1 had not been moved from its point of rest. Unit 1 was equipped with 4-wheel-drive,which was active at
the time of the collision.
DRIVER 1:TAYLOR,IOHNATHON S.
I contacted Johnathon S.Taylor(DOB: 01/29/1988) at the scene.Taylor was not injured from the collision. I
identified Taylor by his recently expired Washington Driver License. I established Taylor as the driver of Unit 1
by his admission.
UNIT 2: HONDA ACCORD
I observed a beige Honda Accord (Unit 2, WA/CMD5201) legally parked in the parking lot of 629 Cedar
Avenue S just inside the private driveway. Unit 2 had minor damage to the rear driver bumper. Unit 2 was
parked and unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Unit 2's owner responded and exchanged information with Taylor.

This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.

A City of Renton streetlight pole (#3731D)was struck by Unit 1 and knocked over during the collision. Renton
Public Works was notified of the downed pole.
WEATHER/ROAD CONDITIONS
It was lightly snowing at the time of the collision and had been snowing on-and-off for about a day.The
roadway was slippery, with about one inch of both compact/fresh snow on the roadway.
STATEMENT: DRIVER 1
1 spoke with Taylor about the collision.The following is a summary of our conversation:
Taylor drove Unit 1 on S 7th Street and Renton Avenue S.Taylor was trying to turn around when he got lost,
and didn't want to drive down S 7th Street's steep hill.
Unit 1 lost traction on the slippery, steep roadway(S 7th Street has a steep, down-hill grade to the west) and
began to slide downhill.
Taylor tried to steer Unit 1 into a curb to stop the slide but was unsuccessful. Unit 1 slid downhill into the
intersection of Cedar Avenue S and struck a the street light pole at the entrance to 629 Cedar.
Unit 1 continued sliding west, struck Unit 2 which was parked just inside the private driveway, and continued
downhill into a wooded area until it came to rest.
PROXIMATE CAUSE
The proximate cause of the collision was extraordinary and unusual roadway conditions.The road was covered
in a layer of fresh snow and has a particularly steep down-hill grade.Taylor stated he wasn't attempting to
drive down the hill, but was trying to turn around when Unit 1 lost traction and began to slide.Taylor operated
Unit 1 in an otherwise safe, cautious, and prudent manner.
