Narrative
On 02/05/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23.At approximately 0417 hours, I
was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking collision at the intersection of 108th Ave SE/SE 180th St,
which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that an
involved party was calling in and needed assistance as the driver of the other involved did not speak English.
I identified each involved vehicle in this 2-motor-vehicle accident with each of their respective drivers and sole
occupants as described above.
I spoke to the driver of Unit 2 using the Spanish language line. My conversation with him is summarized as
follows:
Unit 1 was headed northbound on 108th Ave SE approaching SE 180th St. He stated that he started to brake as
he was headed down the hill and his car began to slide. He could not control the descent of his vehicle. He
then noticed that the signal for northbound traffic had changed to red and ended up hitting the rear end of
Unit 2.
The driver of Unit 1 was uninjured.
There was minor damage to the front bumper of Unit 1. 1 did see that the front driver airbags did deploy which
made the vehicle unsafe to operate.
I then spoke to the driver of Unit 2. My conversation with him is summarized as follows:
Unit 2 stated he was headed southbound on 108th Ave SE approaching the lane 3 left turn and U-turn lane.
Unit 1 stated that his light turned green and began a U-turn to head northbound on 108th Ave SE from SE
180th St. He then noticed that Unit 1 was sliding down 108th Ave SE from the south.The front end of Unit 1
then impacted the rear passenger side of Unit 2.
The driver of Unit 2 was uninjured.
There was minor damage to the rear passenger side area of Unit 2.
Unit 2 also showed me his Tesla's dash cam which I uploaded to Evidence.com. It depicted Unit 2 with a green
light to begin his U-turn and Unit 1 sliding down 108th Ave SE from the south and impacting the rear

passenger side of Unit 2 at what appeared to be a relatively slow speed.
Unit 2 was provided a case number and left under his own power.
Unit 1 was towed and left with the tow truck driver.
Due to the circumstances described above, it appears Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the collision.
