EE86220 CASE# 24-6154 OF COLLISION06/11/24 14:47 NARRATIVE 24-6154 On 06/11/2024 at approximately 1448 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of Logan Ave South and South Tobin Street, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, 1 confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response at the time of report. I collected each involved party's information and involvement leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1 stated that prior to the collision, he and his adult passenger were traveling eastbound on S Tobin Street approaching the stop-sign controlled intersection of Logan Ave S. The driver of Unit#1 stated he was intending to continue eastbound. The driver of Unit#1 stated he stopped at the posted stop sign. When the driver of Unit#1 believed it was safe to do so, Unit#1 proceeded out into the intersection and had assumed Unit#2 would stop for him due to him being "half way out into the intersection". The driver of Unit#1 stated that he believed Unit#2 was traveling at speeds of 40-45 MPH and had Unit#2 not been speeding, the collision could have been avoided. The driver of Unit#1 stated he was ultimately unable to avoid the collision and that both vehicles collided in the intersection causing minor damage to the front passenger bumper of Unit#1. The driver of Unit#1 was unable to provide proof of motor vehicle insurance. The driver of Unit#2 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling northbound in the 100 block of Logan Ave South approaching the uncontrolled intersection of S Tobin ST. The driver of Unit#2 stated he was intending to continue north. The driver of Unit#2 stated that while approaching the intersection, Unit#1 proceeded out into the intersection. The driver of Unit#2 stated he was unable to avoid the collision but that ultimately Unit#1 struck Unit#2 causing significant damage to the front driver's side wheel bearing and quarter panel of Unit#2. The driver of Unit#2 was unable to provide proof of motor vehicle insurance nor had his license on his person. Based on the above statements, I believe that the driver of Unit#1 (GABRESELASSIE) was the predominant factor for the cause of collision as GABRESELASSIE is required to comply with RCW 46.61.190(2) which states that every driver of a vehicle approaching the point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic of the intersecting roadway must stop before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. Unit#2 was already underway in the roadway and had right of way. Unit#1 was able to be driven away without further incident. Unit#2 had suffered extensive damage and the driver stated he would be making arrangements for a private impound. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties. I issued the involved parties a correction notice for having no proof of motor vehicle insurance. The driver of Unit#2 was issued an additional correction notice for having no license on person.
