NARRATIVE
Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State
of Washington.
This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras. This report is a
summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events.
On 1/18/2025, at approximately 0237 hours I was dispatched to a report of a collision at the
intersection of NE 3rd and Sunset BLVD N. Dispatch advised a motor vehicle hit a light pole.
At approximately 0239 hours I arrived on scene. I observed Unit 1 stopped over the median that
separates the right turn lane and the lane going straight. The airbags of Unit 1 were deployed. I
contacted the driver who was later identified as Rodolfo A. Ramirez DOB 01/14/1957 via WADL.
Rodolfo did not speak English well, so I spoke to him via a Spanish interpreter. I asked Rodolfo if he
was injured, and he said he was not. Renton Fire arrived on scene for a medical evaluation since the
airbags of the car deployed. Rodolfo was cleared and declined to go to the hospital. I asked Rodolfo
for his license, registration and insurance. Rodolfo was able to provide his license and his registration
but stated he did not have insurance on the car.
I asked Rodolfo what happened but was not able to get a clear answer out of him. Rodolfo seemed a
little shaken up and confused. However, I did not see any signs of impairment, so I believe this was a
result of the collision. The language line Spanish interpreter also stated that Rodolfo was speaking in
a different Spanish dialect, so he was having a hard time translating what Rodolfo was saying.
I spoke to a witness who was identified as Kevin J. Camacho-Silva DOB 2/14/2001 via WADL. Kevin
relayed the following information. He was directly behind Unit 1 traveling westbound in lane 2 of 4 on
NE 3rd St approaching Sunset Blvd N. He noticed Unit 1 going straight when the light turned yellow.
Unit 1 began to slow down but never came to a stop. As they approached Sunset Blvd N the road
curves left, however, Unit 1 does not turn with the road and continues driving straight running into the
median that separates the right turn lane (1 of 4) and the lane that goes straight (2 of 4).
1 issued Rodolfo a notice of infraction for operating a motor vehicle without insurance.
