SUBJECT: GENE COULON PARK MAINTENANCE PROJECT LAKE STUDY
Dear Mrs. Jill Ding,
The intent of this memorandum is to provide the City of Renton with a lake study that assesses the
existing ecological functions provided by the Gene Coulon Park Maintenance project site. The
condition of the freshwater habitat at the site is limited by several factors including developed
shorelines; a lack of complex habitat to provide cover in the form of overhanging vegetation, large
wooded debris and side channels; and the presence of non-natural overwater structures. While these
factors will largely remain unchanged as a result of this maintenance project, the Ivar’s deck and
transient moorage float tasks will improve continuity of the salmonid migration corridor by decreasing
overwater shading by over 7,323 square feet in the nearshore. Construction activities will result in
minor increases in noise. This impact will only be temporary and will not persist beyond the
construction period. Construction activities are not anticipated to have any effects on sediments within
the project area. No additional infrastructure requirements will be required as part of this project.
Should you require any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me at (206) 624-1387
or via email at nwhite@pndengineers.com.
Sincerely,
