REPORT NO. EF02331 CASE# 24-7144 OF COLLISION
07/08/24 17:13
OF CbLLI510N
NARRATIVE
Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State
of Washington.
This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras. This report is a
summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events.
On 07/08/2024 at approximately 1713 hours I was dispatched to a report of a vehicle collision at the
intersection of S 180th Street (aka SW 43rd ST) and East Valley Highway. Dispatched advised two
motor vehicles involved and one vehicle blocking traffic.
I arrived on scene with my FTO, Officer Nugent, at approximately 1726 hours and located the
involved vehicles in front of the Jack in the Box located 8109 S 180th ST. Both involved parties
remained on scene. The driver of Unit#2 had complaints of neck pain. There was airbag deployment
in the Unit#2 vehicle. The driver of Unit#1 had no complaints of injury and declined aid. The Unit#1
vehicle had a passenger in the car. The passenger advised he did not have any injuries and declined
aid. Renton Fire came and evaluated the driver from Unit#2 and cleared him. While on scene, I was
able to collect both involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to
the collision.
The driver of Unit#1 advised the following. He was exiting the parking lot of Round Table Pizza
facing South and crossed 6 lanes attempting to turn into lane 1 of 4 Eastbound onto SW 43rd St. As
he was passing lane 2 of 4 eastbound attempting to entering lane 1 of 4 eastbound on SW 43rd St,
he did not see the driver of Unit#2 who then hit the front passenger side fender of his vehicle with the
front driver side of Unit#2.
The driver of Unit# 2 advised the following. He was driving eastbound on SW 43rd St in lane 1 of 4.
As he was approaching the intersection of East Valley Highway the driver of Unit#1 entered his lane,
1 of 4 eastbound, from lane 2 of 4 eastbound and he did not have enough time to engage the breaks
causing him to hit the front passenger side fender of Unit#1 vehicle with the front driver side of his
vehicle.
I observed significant damage to the front bumper/ driver side fender of the vehicle of Unit#2. 1 also
observed significant damage to the passenger side fender and wheel bearing/axle of Unit# 1.
Based on the above statements, I believe that the driver of Unit#1 (Suchanyc) was the predominant
factor for the cause of collision as Suchanyc is required to comply with RCW 46.61.205(1) which
states that every driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from a private road or driveway
shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles lawfully approaching on said highway. Unit#2 was already
underway in the roadway and had right of way.
I issued the driver of Unit# 1 (Suchanyc) a notice of infraction via mail for failing to comply RCW
46.61.205(1) which states that every driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from a
private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to all vehicles lawfully approaching on said
highway. Unit#2 was already underway in the roadway and had right of way.
A DOL WACIC check revealed that Isabel was listed as License status Suspended in the Third
Degree.
Isabel was Driving While License Suspended in the third degree by operating a motor vehicle at a
time when his license is suspended in the third degree.
I cited the driver of Unit#2 (Isabel) via complaint for failure to comply with RCW 46.61.205, DWLS
3rd Degree, and Operating a Motor Vehicle without insurance.
