This will allow for adequate spacing between aircraft creating a cleaner ramp area, and better serve our tenants. •Southwest Corner Parking: Four new transient parking stalls are being developed for public use. These spaces will improve access for pilots and visitors, strengthening the connection between our airport and the GA Community. Renton Airport director and staff report Enhanced Security for a Safer Airport Security is always a top priority, and we’re excited to announce comprehensive upgrades to our airport’s systems. These improvements include: •New gates and badge readers for improved access control. •Nine additional security cameras strategically placed around the airport. •Fiber optic connectivity extending from the south end of the airport to the seaplane base, enhancing our ability to monitor and secure the area. Renton Airport director and staff report Seaplane Dock Dredging Project We’re making progress on the seaplane dock and surrounding area with a dredging project. The design phase has moved beyond 30%, and we plan to issue environmental permits to the relevant agencies by the end of 2026. While the process is lengthy, each step brings us closer to completion. Renton Airport director and staff report Demolition of Southeast Corner Buildings An important project is the demolition of three vacant buildings in the southeast corner of the airport. The design phase will be completed by summer, with construction starting by the fall. This effort will improve the overall appearance and functionality of the airport. Renton Airport director and staff report Taxiway A Rehabilitation We’re continuing to work on securing funding for the rehabilitation of Taxiway A. This project will address cracking, reduce the need for temporary fixes, and ensure the long-term usability of this critical taxiway. Renton Airport director and staff report Laying the Foundation for a New Control Tower Thanks to one grant anticipated to be received this year, we’ve started the preliminary work for a new control tower site study. This is a key step toward securing a modern tower, which will enhance operations and safety for years to come. Renton Airport director and staff report Improving Daily Operations Our new sweeper has been a game-changer, keeping the airside and landside areas clean and free of debris. We are also implementing 1200 Aero, a real-time traffic system that offers: •Live air and ground operations tracking, along with live CTAF and tower audio, accessible through our website. •Improved accuracy in tracking-based aircraft and annual operations. •Enhanced analytics to better address noise complaints. •Comprehensive activity tracking at both the airport and the W36 seaplane base, giving us a full picture of operations. Renton Airport director and staff report Ground Rate Appraisals and Facility Updates We’re working with our consultants to complete a ground rate appraisal and assess several buildings, ensuring we’re prepared for updates due in 2025. Renton Airport director and staff report Hangar and Tie-down Rate Increases to tenants will go out this week. Increase will be effective June 1, 2025. Renton Airport director and staff report Looking Ahead Our focus for the year remains on preventative maintenance, particularly through improved pavement management and leveraging our online Airport Management System (Veoci) for efficient work order handling. These projects and initiatives represent our commitment to making Renton Airport a better place for everyone—pilots, tenants, staff, and visitors alike. While some of these efforts will take time, each step is a move toward creating an airport we can all be proud of.
