EF08059 CASE# 24-8786 OF COLLISION 08/20/24 17:22 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 08/20/2024 at approximately 1724 hours, I was dispatched to a vehicle collision with reports of injury at the intersection of Houser Way N and Bronson Way N, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. While en route, Dispatch advised that two vehicles were involved in a collision, with one of the involved vehicles blocking the roadway. I arrived on scene and began collecting the involved party's information. The Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA) responded and cleared everyone on scene for injuries. Upon my arrival, 1 collected each involved party's information and their independent recollection of their involvement leading up to the collision. Officer Petty interviewed the driver of Unit#1 (Huston). He stated that he was traveling South on Sunset Blvd N and turned West onto Bronson Way N into lane 2 of 2. When he was passing through the intersection of Bronson Way N and Houser Way N he collided with the passenger side of Unit#2. He stated that he thought he had the green light and that he proceeded through the intersection and collided with Unit#2. Unit#1 was able to drive out of the intersection and park in a parking lot next to the intersection. The driver of Unit#2 (Delgado) stated that her and her daughter were the passengers in her vehicle driving North in lane 4 of 4 on Houser Way N. She stated that she was waiting at a red light on Houser Way N and Bronson Way N. When the light turned green, she started proceeding North towards Factory Ave N when Unit#1 collided with the passenger side of her vehicle. Her passenger side airbag deployed and the rear passenger wheel appeared to be significantly damaged and at a severe angle. She notified me that she had pain in her right arm but did not need immediate medical attention. A witness to the collision (Sangha) who was two vehicles behind Unit#2 said that he was the third vehicle in line waiting at the red light and that Unit#2 was the first vehicle in line. He stated that the vehicles were waiting for the light to turn green and when the light changed, Unit#2 proceeded through the intersection when he witnessed Unit#1 run the red light and collide with the passenger side of Unit#2. He then pulled to the side and waited for police and fire to arrive to give his account of the event. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Huston) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision due to Entering an Intersection against a Steady Red Circle (Reference RCW 46.61.055(3A)). Huston violated RCW 46.61.055(3A) as vehicle operators facing a steady circular red signal alone shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, but if none, before entering the crosswalk on the near side of the intersection or, if none, then before entering the intersection control area and shall remain standing until an indication to proceed is shown. Huston provided proof of insurance. I therefore cited Huston for Vehicle Entering Intersection against a Steady Red Circle Unit#1 had substantial damage but was able to be driven away without further incident. Unit#2 was towed due to the extensive damage it incurred from the collision.
