Case 25-1283
On 02/09/2025, 1 was working as a fully uniformed City of Renton Police
Officer in a fully marked city of Renton Police Car working as unit #1R23.
This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact
sequencing of events. Statements have been paraphrased and summarized.
At the time of this call I had by department issued body worn camera
activated.
At 1545 hours, I was dispatched via phone for a report of a hit and run
accident that had occurred at South 2nd Street and Logan Ave South in the
City of Renton, WA.
I contacted the victim Melvin Woodworth (DOB 05/13/1948) via phone.
Melvin explained that his wife Candice Woodworth (DOB 11/07/1953) was
driving with him in the passenger seat of their red 2018 Toyota Rav4 SUV
(WA plate BNW4312) heading westbound in the lefthand lane on South 2nd
Street.
Melvin explained that as they approached the intersection of South 2nd
Street and Logan AVE South, an unknown white sedan was travelling in the
right-hand lane next to their car, when the sedan swerved into their lane of
travel striking their passenger side of their vehicle and the front right
corner. Melvin believes that the vehicle was attempting to turn onto Logan

Melvin was only able to describe the suspect driver as a possible Hispanic
male. Melvin was unable to get a license plate from the vehicle. Melvin
stated that the vehicle continued driving westbound on South 2nd Street
and made a left-hand turn, southbound on Rainer Ave South.
I advised Melvin to take photos of the damage to his vehicle. I sent Melvin a
evidence.com link to upload the photos. I provided Melvin a case number
over the phone. Melvin advised that neither he nor his wife Candice were
injured from the collision. Nothing further at this time.
