NARRATIVE
On 09/21/2024 at about 1455 hours a non-injury hit and run collision involving two motor vehicles
occurred in the 800 block of S Grady Way within the city limits of Renton, King County, Washington.
The collision occurred in the westbound lanes of S Grady Way in front of the Watershed Apartment
building (625 Williams Ave S). I called and spoke to D'Angelo D. Anderson (driver of Unit 2-blue
colored 2009 Toyota Corolla with Washington state license plate BUC1103) over the phone, and he
explained what happened.
D'Angelo was stopped for traffic while in the westbound lane (nearest the center line) of S Grady Way
when Unit 1 (white colored Nissan Sentra with Washington state license plate CLZ3217) attempted to
merge left from the outer westbound lane (nearest the curb) into the inner westbound lane colliding
into Unit 2. D'Angelo looked over to the driver of Unit 1 and saw the driver of Unit 1 wave his hands
in an apologetic manner. D'Angelo motioned for the driver of Unit 1 to pull over, and the driver of Unit
1 nodded in acknowledgment; however, the driver of Unit 1 did not pull over. D'Angelo last saw Unit
1 continue westbound on S Grady Way from Talbot Rd S. The driver of Unit 1 did not make any
attempt to contact D'Angelo.
Unit 2 had damage to its front passenger side door from the front driver side bumper of Unit 1
colliding into it, but Unit 2 was able to be driven from the scene. Celeste Atazan was seated in the
front passenger seat of Unit 1, and she witnessed the collision. D'Angelo and Celeste did not report
any injuries.
D'Angelo described Unit 1 as follows: white colored Nissan Sentra, newer model, four doors, with
Washington state license plate CLZ3217 attached to it. Celeste used her cellphone to take
photographs of Unit 1 and the damage to Unit 2, but she was unable to get photographs of the driver
of Unit 1. 1 sent an Axon link to Celeste's cellphone to upload those photos.
D'Angelo described the driver of Unit 1 as follows: white male, 70-80 years of age, slim build, grey
colored hair, grey colored goatee and mustache, hearing aide seen in his left ear, and he wore a
white colored shirt. D'Angelo and Celeste stated they would both be able to recognize the driver if
they saw him again. No other occupants, other than the driver, were seen in Unit 1.
I gave D'Angelo a Renton PD case number over the phone. The identity of the driver of Unit 1 is
unknown.
