Door(s) Rear Collision 2025-00001866 Paqe 2 OF 5 Case Number 2025-00001866 Officer Narrative Narrative ASSIGNMENT/ARRIVAL On 02/28/2025 at approximately 0758 hours, I was dispatched to a two vehicle collision in the 600 block of Sunset Boulevard NE in the city of Renton, King County,Washington. I arrived at approximately 0802 hours. UNIT 1: HYUNDAI ELANTRA Upon arrival I observed a blue Hyundai Elantra (WA/CGV2731, Unit 1) stopped in the southbound lane of Sunset Boulevard NE north of the 1-405 overpass. Unit 1 was moved from its point of rest prior to my arrival. Unit 1 had front end damage from the collision,the front bumper was ripped off but was still drivable. No prior mechanical defects were claimed or observed. UNIT 2: RAM 1500 1 observed a Dodge Ram 1500 (WA/ D95947D, Unit 2) stopped along the southbound shoulder of Sunset Boulevard NE nearly underneath the 1-405 overpass. Unit 2 was towing a utility trailer, a 2009 PJ dump trailer(WA/9386VA). Unit 2 was moved from its point of rest prior to my arrival. Unit 2 had minor damage to the front driver bumper from the collision but was still drivable.The utility trailer was not damaged. No prior mechanical defects were claimed or observed. DRIVER 1: RUDNITSKA NATALIIA I contacted Nataliia Rudnitska (DOB: 07/08/1973) in the driver seat of Unit 1. Rudnitska was not injured from the collision. I identified Rudnitska by hervalid Washington Driver License. I established Rudnitska as the driver of Unit 1 by her admission. I contacted AnthonyT. Ellis (DOB: 02/04/1993) near Unit 2. Ellis was not injured from the collision. I identified Ellis by his valid Washinton Driver License. 1 established Ellis as the driver of Unit 2 by his admission. STATEMENT: RUDNITSKA, NATALIIA I tried to speakwith Rudnitska about the collision. Rudnitska spoke Ukrainian and was using a relative on speakerphone to translate. The relative told me what Rudnitska was saying didn't make sense, and he believed she was took shaken up from the collision to provide a statement. STATEMENT: ELLIS,ANTHONY T. I spoke with Ellis about the collision.The following is a summary of our conversation: Ellis drove Unit 2 south on Sunset Boulevard NE toward the 1-405 overpass to continue on Sunset Boulevard NE. Ellis drove at approximately 30-35 miles per hour. Ellis saw Unit 1 stopped in the northbound left-turn lane of Sunset Boulevard NE to turn onto the northbound 1-405 on-ramp. Unit 1 accelerated from a stop into the southbound lane of Sunset Boulevard NE as Unit 2 drove south, colliding with Unit 2. This concluded my conversation with Ellis. Officer: Gorajewski, Raymond #R12399 Reviewed By: Summers, Paul D Date/Time: 02/28/2025 07:25 Collision 2025-00001866 Paqe 4 OF 5 Case Number 2025-00001866 Officer Narrative-Continued PROXIMATE CAUSE The proximate cause of the collision was Rudnitska failing to comply with RCW 46.61.180, Vehicle Turning Left,which states: "The driver of a vehicle intending to turn to the left within an intersection or into an alley, private road, or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard."
