GENERAL NOTES
1. EXISTING CONDITIONS, INCLUDING THE LOCATION OF EXISTING BURIED
UTILITIES, AS SHOWN ON THE PLANS, ARE BASED ON VISUAL
OBSERVATIONS AND THE INCORPORATION OF AVAILABLE RECORD DRAWINGS
FROM THE BOEING CO. ARCHIVES. NO TONE LOCATION, POTHOLING OR A
CURRENT SURVEY OF EXISTING UTILITIES HAS BEEN DONE. THE
CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL UTILITY LOCATIONS, INCLUDING DEPTH OF
BURY, PRIOR TO THE START OF EXCAVATIONS.
2. UNDERGROUND FIRE PIPING SHALL BE INSTALLED BY A WASHINGTON
STATE "U" CERTIFIED CONTRACTOR.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY THE LOCATION AND DEPTH OF
ALL EXISTING UTILITIES TO WHICH A CONNECTION IS TO BE MADE AND
ALL OTHER UTILITIES WHICH MAY PRESENT A POTENTIAL INTERFERENCE
PROBLEM. THIS SHALL BE DONE BY TONING OR POTHOLING OR OTHER
ACCEPTABLE METHODS. EXISTING AND NEW UTILITY LOCATIONS AND DEPTHS
SHALL BE ACCOMPLISHED PRIOR TO THE START OF CONSTRUCTION
BECAUSE SUCH LOCATIONS AND DEPTH MAY IMPACT THE LENGTH OF
THE PIPES AND STRONGBACK.
CONSTRUCTION NOTES
CAP EXISTING PIPING AND CONDUIT FOLLOWING DEMOLITION. CAPPED
UTILITIES SHALL NOT INTERFERE WITH BRIDGE LIFT OPERATION.
CONTACT BOEING DISTRIBUTED NETWORK ENGINEER, JOHN MOE (425)234
-8373, ONCE AREA IS EXPOSED. BOEING ENGINEER SHALL SUPERVISE
WORK AND MAKE FINAL DETERMINATIONS FOR PENETRATIONS, TERMINATIONS
AND TIE-INS.
THE INSTALLATION METHOD AND SEQUENCE OF THE PIPING ASSEMBLY IS
THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY. AN OUTLINE OF ONE POSSIBLE
METHOD IS NOTED BELOW. CONTRACTOR SHALL DEVELOP HIS PREFER-
RED METHOD AND SEQUENCE, COMPLETE WITH DETAILS.
1. ASSEMBLE LENGTHS OF PIPE IN THE STAGING AREA ON THE SHORE
AS REQUIRED TO CROSS THE RIVER AND BUNDLE THE PIPES WITH
THE STEEL BEAM TO SERVE AS A STRONGBACK FOR THE BUNDLED
PIPE. PIPE AND STEEL BEAM ARE TO BE FABRICATED WITH 22.5
DEGREE BENDS AT EACH END TO APPROXIMATELY FOLLOW THE
PROFILE OF THE DREDGED CHANNEL.
2. STAND BY WHILE THE PIPE TRENCH IS DREDGED BENEATH THE RIVER
BY OTHERS. (THE PIPE TRENCH WILL BE DREDGED BY THE DREDGING
CONTRACTOR WORKING FOR THE CORPS OF ENGINEER'S RIVER
DREDGING PROJECT.)
3. AS SOON AS THE DREDGING EQUIPMENT IS CLEAR OF THE PIPE
TRENCH, LIFT THE BUNDLED PIPE ASSEMBLY WITH TWO CRANES AND
WALK ONE CRANE ACROSS THE SOUTH BRIDGE TO SUSPEND THE
PIPES OVER THE DREDGED PIPE TRENCH.
4. LOWER THE BUNDLED PIPES INTO THE TRENCH TO THE DESIGNED
ELEVATIONS.
5. ANCHOR THE BUNDLED PIPES TO MAINTAIN THE STABILITY OF THE
PIPES AND HOLD THEM IN POSITION.
6. THE SILTATION OF THE RIVER WILL INFILL THE PIPE TRENCH SO THAT
BACKFILLING OF THE PIPE TRENCH IS NOT REQUIRED.
® PROVIDE VALVE BOX. BOX SHALL BE TWO PIECE CAST IRON AND ADJUST-
ABLE FOR VALVE DEPTH OF BURY. VALVE BOX LID SHALL BE CAST IRON
WITH "SEWER" OR "AIR", AS NEEDED, CAST IN RAISED LETTERS. OLYMPIC
FOUNDRY NO. V132 OR APPROVED EQUAL.
CONTRACTOR TO VERIFY MATERIAL OF EXISTING SANITARY SEWER AND TO
PROVIDE LIKE MATERIAL TO EXTEND SEWER TO TRANSITION OF HDPE PIPE
AT RIVER BANK.
