On 03/17/2025 at approximately 0541 hours, I was dispatched to Rainier Ave S and S 4th PL within the City of
Renton, King County, Washington to a non-injury hit and run report. Dispatch relayed over the radio that two
vehicles involved in a collision parked at Safeway located at 200 S 3rd St.The suspect vehicle identified as a
black 2015 Infiniti Q50 WA/LIC BNM2943 VIN#JNIBV7AP9FM348737 then drove away from the location
without attempting to exchange information.The suspect driver was described as a black male in his 20's
wearing a black rag and black hoody.
On arrival I contacted the reporting party who was identified by his WADOL as Shawn T Scogin DOB
(01/01/1980). Shawn was the driver of unit 2 identified as a black 2019 Jeep Wrangler WA/LIC BRK8139 VIN#
1C4HJXDNOKW642958. Shawn stated that he was driving north on Rainier Ave S in the middle lane furthest
away from the curb. Shawn came to a stop at the intersection of Rainier Ave S and S 4th PL and once the light
turned green, he continued driving north. As Shawn was driving north on Rainier, unit 1 who was driving in the
lane closest to the curb merged left onto Shawn's Lane and collided with his vehicle. Shawn then let unit 1
pass him and followed unit 1 until it parked in the parking lot of Safeway near the gas pumps. Shawn parked
his vehicle approximately 10 feet away from unit 1 and got out of his vehicle so that he could exchange
information with the driver of unit 1.As Shawn was a few feet away from unit 1 the driver exited the vehicle
and told Shawn that"he was fine" and entered his vehicle and drove away without exchanging information.
Unit 1 was last seen heading southbound in the parking lot towards S 3rd St.
Shawn said he might be able to identify the driver of unit 1 but wasn't sure because he saw the driver from a
distance. Shawn provided me with a valid documentation, and he was given my business card with the case
number. Shawn's vehicle suffered minor damage to the front right tire. Unit 1 should have minor damage on
its rear left bumper. Based on the facts above I determined that unit 1 was the at fault driver and caused the
collision due to the driver's inattentive driving and failing to grant the right of way.The registered owner of
unit 1 was identified as Lateka Shonte Williams DOB (04/30/1987),the driver was described as a male, so it is
unlikely that Lateka was the suspect driving unit 1.
