NARRATIVE
On 01-24-2025 at 1355 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of S Carr Rd / Smithers Ave S, in
the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington, for a reported collision that just occurred.
Upon arrival, I contacted the two vehicles as they were stopped in the middle lane facing westbound.
Unit 1 was behind Unit 2 and it appeared that Unit 1 ran into the back of Unit 2. 1 checked on the
occupants and they were all okay. 1 had them move their vehicles out of the road as they both were
drivable.
I spoke with Unit 1 next to his Prius and he relayed the following:
Unit 1 was behind another vehicle in the right lane as they were approaching the intersection. The
vehicle in front of Unit 1 hit their brakes which forced Unit 1 to slam on his brakes as well. In an
attempt to not hit the vehicle in front of Unit 1, he turned left and hit Unit 2 as they were stopped at the
red light. The driver of Unit 1 was unable to provided me with valid insurance and stated he did not
have insurance.
I spoke with Unit 2 next to his Subaru and he relayed the following:
Unit 2 was stopped for a red light in the left lane and got hit from behind by Unit 1. Unit 2 had his wife
and two small children in the vehicle at the time of the collision.
I gave Unit 1 a citation for operating a motor vehicle without insurance and following vehicle too
closely.
I provided both drivers with an exchange of information and they both were able to drive their vehicles
from the scene.
