EF60966 CASE# 25-842 O OF COLLI 510N TIME 01/26/25 18:07 COLLISION NARRATIVE On 01/26/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately 1810 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking accident at Sunset Blvd NE at the 1-405N on-ramp which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that a neighbor in the area reported a single motor vehicle collision in the construction area at the above location. I arrived at the call location and was able to locate the accident. This call turned out to be a two-motor vehicle accident that was blocking the northbound 1-405N on-ramp from northbound Sunset Blvd NE and southbound Sunset Blvd NE. The two involved vehicles in this incident were later identified as follows: Unit 1: A white 2008 Lexus ES (WA/CBV9795, VIN/JTHBJ46G782191495). Driver (sole occupant): Raymond Au (DOB: 04/15/2000, verified via DOL photo). Unit 2: A silver 2004 Acura TSX (WA/BBB3993, VIN:/ JH4CL96824C017245). Driver: Duong T. Phan (DOB: 03/19/1971, verified via DOL photo). Front right passenger: Thu T. Le (DOB: 07/30/1965, verified via DOL photo). I went to speak to the driver of Unit 1. My conversation with him is summarized as follows: Unit 1 explained that he was traveling northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the northbound 1-405N on-ramp. Unit 1 stated he did not see the yield sign. Unit 1 continued to cross onto to continue onto the on-ramp. Unit 2 was headed southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE at the same time as Unit 1 was attempting to cross the southbound lanes of Sunset Blvd NE to continue on the on -ramp. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 to collide with the front passenger side of Unit 1. Unit 1 stated that he was wearing his seatbelt. Unit 1 also stated he had some slight pain in his leg area. I took a look around Unit 1 and saw that the front passenger side of the vehicle was significantly dented. The tires also appeared to be damaged on the same side. I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. She mentioned that she was accompanied by the above-mentioned passenger who was now sitting in the back seat of Unit 2. My conversation with the driver of Unit 2 is summarized as follows: Unit 2 stated she was heading southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the northbound 1- 405N on-ramp. She stated that Unit 1 had entered the intersection without looking as she was continuing straight down Sunset Blvd NE. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front passenger side of Unit 1. Unit 2 stated that she was wearing her seatbelt. Unit 2 also did not appear obviously injured. I took a look around Unit 2 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was significantly dented. I also briefly spoke to the front passenger of Unit 2. She stated she had some pain just under her breast area. She also mentioned some leg pain. The fire department arrived a short time later and evaluated all parties for injuries. Based on the fact that Unit 1 did not grant right of way to Unit 2 before entering the intersection to continue onto the northbound 1-405N on-ramp and the fact that Unit 1 was required to yield to PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. EF60966 CASE# 25-842 O OF COLLI 510N TIME 01/26/25 18:07 COLLISION NARRATIVE opposing traffic as indicated by the yield sign at the location, I found that there is reasonable cause to cite the driver of Unit 1 for RCW 46.61.190 -Failure to yield at yield sign/intersection. SECTOR citation 5A0115084 was completed and sent to the prosecuting attorney's office to mail to the driver of Unit 1. 1 also completed a SECTOR collision for this incident. The front passenger of Unit 2 was subsequently transported to the hospital from the scene. The driver of Unit 2 left the location with a friend a short time later. The driver of Unit 1 left the location with friends a short time later. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed by Gene Meyers from the location at each driver's request. Based on the circumstances described above, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the collision. This concludes my report.
