Unless otherwise noted,the following took place within the city limits of Renton, County of King,WA.
On 03/20/2025 at approximately 1840 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury motor vehicle collision at
the intersection of S Puget Dr./Talbot Rd. S.
Officer Engel arrived on scene shortly before I did and began obtaining information and gathering driver's
documents.
I identified Unit 1 as Vernon V.Sherman (05/05/1965)who was driving a 2022 Hyundai Sonata
(WA/CDN6186).Vernon was not reporting any pain or injury.Vernon was wearing his seat belt and there
was no air bag deployment. I observed moderate front end damage to Vernon's vehicle.
Speaking with Vernon, I gathered that he was in the southbound lanes of Talbot Rd. S and in the left-hand
Lane, preparing to turn left and head eastbound on S Puget Dr. Unit 2 was in front of him, preparing to
make the same turn. Unit 1 believed Unit 2 was going to speed up and attempt to make the turn prior to
the light turning red. Unit 2 did not attempt to turn and slammed on their brakes,which Unit 1 was not
anticipating. Unit 1 subsequently struck the rear end of Unit 2.
1 identified Unit 2 as Pankaj (04/08/1996)who was driving a 2012 Ford Fusion (WA/CGZ0951). Pankaj was
not reporting any pain or injury. Pankaj was wearing his seat belt and there was no air bag deployment. I
observed moderate damage to the rear end of his vehicle and his rear bumper was partially dragging on
the ground.
Officer Engel spoke with Pankaj via language line and gathered that he was traveling south bound on
Talbot Rd.S and was preparing to turn left and head eastbound on S Puget Dr.As Pankaj was preparing to
turn left in the left-hand lane,the light switched to yellow and he did not believe he had enough time to
make the turn, so he applied his breaks.At this point, Unit 1, struck him from behind.
Officer Engel facilitated the exchange of information and provided both parties a case number.
Neither party needed a tow and neither party received citations.
Nothing further.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.
