Narrative
Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State of
Washington.
This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras.This report is a summary
of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events.
On May 19th, 2024, at approximately 1028 hours I was dispatched to NE 3rd ST and Sunset Blvd N for a
report of a hit and run accident.
One party had called in advising they were struck by a white Honda Civic which had continued, and while
enroute the driver of the Honda Civic called in advising he had been struck and believed the other vehicle
had continued. I asked the driver of the Honda to return to the area.
I arrived on scene and spoke with the initial caller, identified as Benson N Mungi DOB 12/10/1984,the
driver of a white 2021 Toyota Highlander(MA LIC:2DHB54)which will hereby be referred to as Driver 1/
Vehicle 1.
I spoke with the other driver who identified himself as Alberto C Paredes DOB 11/12/2001,the driver of
the white 2019 Honda Civic(WA LIC: CGD9640)which will hereby be referred to as Driver 2/Vehicle 2.
After speaking with both drivers, I determined driver 1 had been westbound on NE 3rd St in lane 2, asking
a southbound turn onto Sunset Blvd N. Driver 2 was traveling the same direction, in lane 1. Lane one is a
westbound straight, or southbound turn lane. Lane 2 is strictly a southbound turn lane.While navigating
the turn,Vehicle 1 crossed slightly into lane 1, minorly striking Vehicle 2.
There was minor damage, and no reported injuries. I helped facilitate an information exchange.
