EF78685 CASE# 25-2773 OF COLLISION 03/27/25 19:28 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 03/27/2025, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately 1930 hours, I was dispatched to an injury collision at the intersection of 116th Ave SE/SE 168th St, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that there was a 2-motor vehicle accident at the location. As I was driving to the call, an involved party had also called and reported that subjects inside their car had possible injuries. I also noticed that dispatch had updated the call on CAD and relayed that various witnesses had also called in the accident at the location. One caller had mentioned that one of the involved vehicles may have struck a pole. When I arrived at the dispatch location, I located the involved vehicles. I saw that the Renton Fire Department was already at the location and was blocking all southbound traffic just north of SE 168th St on 116th Ave SE. I was able to identify all involved units and their respective occupants as listed above. I was also able to speak to the driver of Unit 1 about the circumstances of the collision. My conversation with him is summarized as follows: Unit 1 stated he was the sole occupant inside of his vehicle. Unit 1 described that he was traveling northbound on 116th Ave SE approaching SE 168th St. Unit 1 pointed out that an unknown vehicle behind him had rear-ended him just moments prior. This rear- rear-end collision occurred at around the 17000 block of 116th Ave SE according to the driver of Unit 1. Unit 1 described that the other vehicle that rear-ended him was possibly a black sedan. He was unable to give any further description than that. Unit 1 noticed that the driver of this unknown vehicle did not stop and continued northbound on 116th Ave SE after they had just collided with the rear end of Unit 1. Unit 1 stated that he followed the vehicle since they had not stopped. As Unit 1 approached SE 168th St, he said that he noticed that the light for northbound traffic was changing from green to red. Unit 1 believed that he would be able to make the light through the intersection. Unit 1 then described that he was unable to make the light, but at that time was already entering the intersection as the light had turned red. Unit 1's front end subsequently struck the driver's side of Unit 2 in the intersection. Unit 1's final point of rest was the front end of his vehicle next to a light/utility pole located on the northwest corner of the intersection. This light post did not appear damaged in any way. Unit 1 did complain of some minor pain in his chest area. He also mentioned that he was wearing his seatbelt. I took a look around Unit 1. 1 noticed that the entire front bumper was caved in and dented. I also saw a slightly cracked rear driver's side bumper. I also saw that his front airbags had been deployed. I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. My conversation with her is summarized as follows: Unit 2 stated she was inside her vehicle with her 3 other passengers as listed above. Unit 2 stated she was headed westbound on SE 168th St just east of 116th Ave SE. She described that her light had turned green and that she had proceeded into the intersection to continue westbound on SE 168th St. She then described that the front end of Unit 1 had struck the driver's side area of her vehicle. Unit 2's final rest point was just north of the intersection. Unit 2 complained of some minor pain in her arm/shoulder area. The other 3 occupants inside Unit 2's vehicle also mentioned complaints of pain as a result of the collision. Unit 2 also said she was wearing her seatbelt along with the other occupants inside of her vehicle. I took a look around Unit 2. 1 saw that the entire front driver's side wheel well area and parts of the front driver's side door were dented. I also saw that there was a small dent in the rear driver's side wheel well area as well. I also noticed that a combination of airbags in the front of the vehicle had been deployed. The Renton Fire Department evaluated all parties at the location for their injuries. Unit 1 was able to leave the scene of the collision with his wife who picked him up. PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. EF78685 CASE# 25-2773 OF COLLISION 03/27/25 19:28 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE Unit 2 was transported from the location to the hospital along with 2 of her children in the back of an ambulance as a precautionary. 1 other occupant inside Unit 2 stated she would also go to the hospital but would be transported via a family member. Bankers tow took possession of both vehicles from the location and impounded them. Based on the above-described circumstances, I believe that Unit 1 was the proximate cause of the collision. Based on the fact that Unit 1 described that an unknown vehicle had struck the rear end of his vehicle; the fact that this collision resulted in what appeared to be new damage to the rear driver's side bumper of Unit 1; and the fact that the unknown vehicle that struck Unit 1 did not stop to exchange necessary information after a collision, there is probable cause for RCW 46.52.020 -hit and run (attended) The identity of the driver of the unknown vehicle that had struck the rear end of Unit 1 remains unknown. Should a suspect be identified, there is probable cause for the above crime. This concludes my report. I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct.
