Renton Case #24-12899

On 12/17/2024 at 1836 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of Main Ave S/S 4th St, in the City
of Renton, King County, Washington. I was responding to a call of a non-injury, blocking accident.
This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summation of events that
occurred and is not an exact sequence of events.
At approximately 1844 hours, I arrived on scene located the two involved vehicles. Both involved
units were pulled into a parking lot, no longer blocking the roadway, at the northwest corner of Main
Ave S/S 4th St.
I identified Unit 1 as a 1997 BMW 328 (WA LIC #CMA6534) being driver by the registered owner of
the vehicle, identified by his WA DL as Christian T Fick (DOB 10/04/1998).
Unit 1 driver told me he was not injured. I asked Unit 1 driver what happened, he stated that he was
traveling southbound on Main Ave S in the number 1 lane of travel. As he approached S 4th St, Unit 1
driver said that he merged into the number 2 lane of travel in an attempt to make it into the left hand
turn lane. While attempting to merge into traffic, Unit 1 vehicle collided with Unit 2 vehicle who was
traveling alongside Unit 1 in the number 2 lane of southbound travel.
I observed substantial damage to the left side of Unit 1 vehicle.
Unit 1 driver provided me with his WADL, registration and proof of insurance.
I identified Unit 2 as a 2013 Toyota Prius (WA LIC #BWH9097) being driven by the registered owner
of the vehicle, identified by his WA DL as Josiah D Anthony (DOB 03/16/1995).
Unit 2 driver told me they were uninjured. I asked Unit 2 driver what happened, he stated that he was
traveling southbound on Main Ave S in the number 2 lane of travel. He continued saying that as he
approached S 4th St, Unit 1 vehicle attempted to perform a U-Turn from the number 1 lane of travel,
cutting in directly in front of him. As a result, the front of his vehicle collided with the left side of Unit 1
vehicle.
Unit 2 driver provided me with his WADL, registration and proof of insurance.
I observed substantial damage to the front of Unit 2 vehicle.
All observed damage to both Unit 1 and Unit 2 vehicles were consistent with the version of events
provided by each involved.
Photographs of both involved vehicles were taken at the scene and later uploaded to Axon Evidence.
I provided each involved unit with a business card, case number and answered their remaining
questions.
I then cleared the scene.
