NARRATIVE
#24-12808
On 12/14/2024 at approximately 1610 hours, I was dispatched to a two vehicle, non-injury, non-
blocking accident at Davis Ave S and S 43rd St in the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of
Washington.
Unit#1 was a silver 2013 Kia Sorento with WA LIC: FCO2350 (VIN: 5XYKTDA28DG423917).
Unit#2 was a grey Infiniti G37 with WA LIC: CNB3976 (VIN: JNKCV61 F49M364480).
I contacted the driver of Unit#1 who identified herself as Armijo, Leona L DOB 04/06/1980. Armijo
provided me with a valid drivers license, insurance, and registration for the vehicle when asked. She
told me she had been wearing her seatbelt, was okay, and did not need aid. Her airbags had
deployed and she was visibly shaken up from the incident.
I then contacted the driver of Unit#2 who identified herself as Songcuan, Keilani Rae Oximana DOB
08/02/2000. Songcuan provided me with a valid drivers license, insurance, and registration for her
vehicle. She told me she had been wearing her seatbelt, was okay, and did not need aid. She had hit
her head on the windshield of her car however during the collision.
I decided to have Renton Fire dispatch to the collision to evaluate both drivers. They arrived and
medically cleared both drivers.
The driver of Unit#1 stated she was traveling north on Hwy 167 and exiting on the S 43rd St off ramp.
She needed to get in to the far left hand turn lane so she could then go north on to Talbot RD S. As
she yielded through the light turning east bound on to S 43rd St, she crossed over to the far left hand
lane so she could then proceed into the turn lane. She stated she did not see unit#3 driving east on S
43rd St through a green light and collided with the front passenger side wheel well of her vehicle.
The driver of Unit#2 informed me that she was traveling through a green light over Hwy 167 on S
43rd St. She was in lane #2 as she went through the light. She stated she did not see Unit#1 who
was coming across lane #1 into lane #2 and the vehicles collided.
Both drivers were able to move their vehicles on to Davis Ave S under their own power. They did both
need to be towed away though. Unit#1 had airbags deployed. Gene Meyer Towing arrived on scene
and towed the vehicle away for the driver.
Unit#2 did not have airbags deploy. She did state that her seatbelt was on but did not tighten on
impact which caused her to hit her head on the windshield of her car. She did have some minor
scrapes from the impact.
Images of the vehicles and injuries to the driver of Unit#2 were uploaded to Axon.
Both drivers were provided a case number and exchange of information at the scene.
At the conclusion of my investigation, I determined that the proximate cause is due to Unit#1 failing
to properly yield to oncoming traffic who had the right of way. If Unit#1 would have entered lane #1
and then proceeded into lane #2 before then entering the left hand turn lane then this collision would
not have happened.
