NARRATIVE
On January 6, 2025, approximately 1231 hours, I was dispatched to a blocking vehicle collision at
1400 Talbot Rd S, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival, 1 confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response
at the time of report. While on scene, I collected each involved party's driving documents and their
independent involvement leading up to the collision.
Unit 1 is a Rivian Amazon Van.
The driver of Unit#1 stated he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was attempting to exit a
private property parking lot, located at 1400 Talbot Rd S, and on the north side of the roadway. The
driver of Unit#1 stated that he was intending to make a left turn out of the parking lot to proceed
eastbound onto S Puget Dr following the turn. The driver of Unit#1 stated that he checked westbound
traffic but did not see anyone. The driver of Unit#1 believed all westbound traffic on S Puget Dr was
clear and therefore proceeded out into the roadway. As Unit#1 entered the right turn lane, Unit#1
was met by another vehicle - Unit#2. The driver of Unit#1 stated that he was unable to avoid the
collision after having pulled out into the roadway and that Unit#2 struck the front of Unit#1,
specifically on the driver's side front bumper, causing moderate damage.
The driver of Unit#2 said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling westbound in
about the 1400 block of S Puget Dr and in the left-turn-lane. The driver of Unit#2 stated he was
intending to continue west to the intersection of Talbot Rd S with the intent to make a left turn. Upon
reaching the location of where Unit#1 was turning out from, Unit#2 observed Unit#1 pull out into the
roadway but was unable to avoid the collision. Both vehicles collided in the roadway and Unit#2
suffered significant damage to the front bumper.
Based on the above statements, 1 believe that the driver of Unit#1 is the proximate cause for the
cause of collision as driver is required to comply with RCW 46.61.205(1) which states that every
driver of a vehicle about to enter or cross a highway from a private road or driveway shall yield the
right-of-way to all vehicles lawfully approaching on said highway. Unit#2 was already underway in
the roadway and had right of way.
Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were driven away by their drivers. An exchange of information was provided
to all involved parties.
