NARRATIVE
On 02-05-2025 at approximately 1758 hours I responded to the intersection of Benson Rd S and
Benson Dr S in the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington to an unknown injury
accident.
While en route, details of the call indicated this was a hit and run collision and the reporting party
vehicle was trying to follow the suspect vehicle. The reporting party vehicle eventually returned to the
crash scene to meet with officers.
Upon my arrival Renton Fire Authority had already been dispatched as the passenger in unit#1 was
complaining of back pain. I spoke with the driver of unit#1, identified by his WADL as Khalid R.
Zaland (DOB 03-21-1991), using a Pashto interpreter via Language Line. He said he was on Benson
Rd S stopped facing south bound in lane 2 of 2 waiting at the intersection of Benson Rd S and
Benson Dr S. He had a red light. He said unit#2 struck him from behind.
Zaland said he met with the driver of unit#2 and told him to pull over so they could exchange
information. Zaland pulled off to the side of the road and unit#2 proceeded to leave the scene last
seen heading north bound on Benson Dr S. Zaland said unit#2 did not exchange any information
prior to leaving the scene. He said the collision occurred approximately 4-5 minutes prior to him
calling 911.
Zaland described the driver of unit#2 as a black male, approximately 25-26 years old, having a
beard, wearing a brown hat and brown jacket. He said he was not sure if he could identify the driver
of unit#2 if he saw him again. He described unit#2 as a red Corolla with no plates.
Officer Kearse spoke with the passenger of unit#1, identified by her WADL as Ashton A. Bosley
(DOB 10-10-1990). He advised she told him she could identify the driver of unit#2. She described the
driver as a black male, 20-29, 6'2", thin build, dread locks, beard, wearing a gray beanie and lighter
jacket.
I observed the damage to Zaland's vehicle. He had minor scrapes to his rear bumper.
Zaland initially said he was not injured. However, as I was providing him with his information and
case number, he advised his back was now hurting and wanted to be seen by the fire department.
Renton Fire Authority responded back out the scene and evaluated him.
Both Zaland and Bosley were evaluated by Renton Fire Authority at the scene and did not need to be
transported to the hospital.
During this incident, I was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video.
This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an exact transcription of the
entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system.
