NARRATIVE
Renton Case #25-1257

On 02/08/2025 at 1450 hours I was dispatched to the 2900 block of NE Sunset BLVD, in the City of
Renton, King County, Washington. I was responding to an injury, vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. This
incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summation of events that
occurred and is not an exact sequence of events.
At approximately 1657 hours, I arrived on scene located the involved parties. Unit 1 vehicle was
parked in the center turn lane of NE Sunset BLVD and Unit 2 pedestrian was laying down just behind
the vehicle, being evaluated by Renton Fire.
I identified Unit 1 as a 2004 Toyota Corolla (WA LIC #CDS6608) being driven by the registered owner
of the vehicle, identified by her WA DL as Adriana R Aldrete (DOB 07/17/1987). Unit 1 driver was the
only occupant of the vehicle.
Unit 1 driver told me she was not injured. I asked Unit 1 driver what had happened, she stated that
she was traveling westbound on NE Sunset BLVD after leaving the nearby Walgreens. Unit 1 driver
said that as she approached the marked pedestrian crosswalk, she observed Unit 2 pedestrian enter
into the roadway and start to cross the roadway. Unit 1 driver said that as she continued closer, Unit 2
pedestrian began to move quicker across the street, moving directly into her lane of travel. Unit 1
driver said that she then slammed on her brakes. Unit 1 driver said that despite trying to avoid Unit 2
pedestrian, she ended up making minor contact with Unit 2 pedestrian in the middle of the marked
crosswalk.
No damage was noted on Unit 1 vehicle.
Unit 1 driver provided me with her WADL, registration and proof of insurance.
I identified Unit 2 pedestrian as Qishu Zhao (DOB 05/01/1950). During my time on scene, unit 2 was
being evaluated by Renton Fire. No visible injuries were noted by medics and Unit 2 was conscious
and alert. As a precaution, Unit 2 was transported via Tri-Med to Valley Medical Center.
I took photographs of both involved parties as well as the crash scene. All photos were later uploaded
to Axon Evidence.
I provided each involved unit with a business card, case number and answered their remaining
questions.
Unit 1 driver was issued a citation for failing to yield to a pedestrian at a marked crosswalk. I
confirmed her current mailing address and advised she would be receiving the citation in the mail.
I then cleared the scene.
This ends my report.
