Olufemi was leaving an appointment at 3600 Lind Ave SW suite 160 with his mother, Titi Ajinde. Olufemi got out the front door and ran outside before Ajinde could stop him. 1 later spoke with Ajinde. Ajinde told me that Olufemi ran past her while she was trying to navigate out the door with another child, and ran into the parking lot despite her cries to stop. The suite 160 door opens on the west side of the building; a sidewalk runs north and south on that side of the building, with the parking lot, grass planter strip, and another sidewalk dividing the lot from Lind Ave SW. Witness Jim Smith was looking out a west window of 3600 Lind Ave SW suite 150, just north of suite 160. Smith told me that he saw Olufemi run north on the sidewalk adjacent the building, run full tilt across the parking lot, and then continue to run down a concrete walk crossing the planter strip, across the sidewalk, and into the northbound curb lane of Lind Ave SW where he appeared to run into the side of unit 1. Driver 1 Ana Sta Ines told me that she was driving north in the curb lane of Lind Ave SW to get to her work at a Valley Medical Center office further north in the 3600 Lind Ave SW building, when she saw Olufemi run into the road from her right. Sta Ines told me that she swerved left to avoid Olufemi, almost hitting a car in the opposing lanes. Sta Ines did not know if her car had hit Olufemi; Olufemi fell to the ground, but there was no visible damage to Sta Ines' car. Olufemi was crying uncontrollably; due to Olufemi's age, he was unable to talk about the incident or any injuries. There was a bump on his left forehead, and some scratches to his left leg. Responding Fire personnel did not find any serious injuries to Olufemi; as a precaution, he was transported to Valley Medical Center for a more comprehensive examination. At Valley, Olufemi was diagnosed with a skull fracture, and transported to Harborview Medical Center. I was unable to get an update on Olufemi's condition from Harborview at the time of this writing.
