EF68019 CASE# 25-1436 OF DATE AND r�N + 02/13/25 20:23 O�COLLISION NARRATIVE On 2/13/2025 at 2025 hours, I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at around the 2800 block of Maple Valley Highway in the City of Renton, King County, Washington. Pre-Collision Unit 1's driver stated that he was traveling Eastbound in the number 2 lane of Maple Valley Highway approaching the 2800 block. Notably, the roadway was icy out due to cold weather conditions and it having been snowing previously in the day. Unit 2's driver stated that he was traveling Westbound on Maple Valley Highway approaching the 2800 block in the number 2 lane. Collision Unit 1's driver stated that when coming through the curve prior to the 2800 block of Maple Valley Highway, he began to lose traction on the roadway, resulting in his front tires losing control of steering. Driver 1 stated that once his tires began to skid, he attempted to turn further to the right which resulted in oversteering, causing him to slide more. Driver 1 stated that he crossed over the double yellow line upon the roadway and into Westbound traffic. Upon doing so, the front driver side bumper of Unit 1 collided with the front driver side bumper of Unit 2. This contact between Unit 1 and 2 continued along the front driver side door causing substantial damage to Unit 1 and 2. Unit 2 stated that when approaching the 2800 block in the number 2 lane of Maple Valley Highway. Driver 2 stated that as he was approaching the 2800 block, he observed Unit 1 sliding into his lane of travel. Driver 2 did not have time to slow or maneuver to avoid a collision. Injuries Driver 1 had minor bleeding from his nose but otherwise did not complain of injuries. Driver 2 did not complain of any injuries at the time of our investigation but had a cut to his hand and forehead. Vehicle dispositions Both vehicles were rendered inoperable and towed from the scene. Proximate Cause Driver 1 is at proximate cause for this collision for failing to maintain his lane of travel and travelling too fast for conditions. Final disposition Driver 1 was cited for RCW 46.20.342 for driving under a suspended license, 46.30.020 for operating a motor vehicle without insurance, and RCW 46.61.400 for driving too fast for conditions.
