EF68536 CASE# 25-1079 OF DATE AND r�N + 02/03/25 12:51 O�COLLISION NARRATIVE On February 3, 2025 at approximately 1251 hours, I was dispatched to an injury and blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of SW 34th St and Lind Ave SW, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. Upon my arrival, I observed heavy mechanism to the involved vehicles with airbag deployment as well as both of the involved parties complaining of pain. The Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA) responded to the scene for evaluation. While on scene, 1 collected each of the involved party's driving information and their independent recollection of the events leading up to the collision. Upon my arrival, I confirmed that the passenger of Unit 1 was complaining of hand pain and the driver of Unit 2 was okay. RRFA had already responded and evaluated the involved parties prior to my arrival. All parties were treated at the scene and released by RRFA. While on scene, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit 1, identified by his WADL as Son Nguyen, said he was traveling westbound on SW 34th St and had approached the stop-sign controlled intersecting roadway of Lind Ave SW. Son stated that he was intending to continue straight at the intersection to proceed westbound on SW 34th St. Son stated that he stopped at the intersection to yield to approaching traffic. Son stated that he believed traffic was clear and began to proceed across the roadway. Son said he never saw unit 2 going southbound on Lind Ave SW. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 collided in the roadway causing significant damage to the front of Unit 1. The driver of Unit 2, identified as Jose Torres-Maldonado, said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling southbound on SW Lind Ave SW approaching the intersection of SW 34th St where Unit 1 was located. Jose stated he was intending to continue straight on the Lind Ave SW through the uncontrolled intersection for his direction of travel. Jose stated that upon reaching the intersecting driveway, Unit 1 failed to yield to his vehicle at the intersection. Jose was unable to avoid the collision and subsequently collided into Unit 1 causing significant damage to the front driver's side of Unit 2. Based on the above statements, 1 determined that the Driver of Unit 1 (Son) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as Son did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Son violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. I gave Son a verbal warning for Failing to StopNield at an intersection causing a collision. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 had to be towed due to extensive damage.
