Unless otherwise noted, the following happened within the City Limits of Renton, County of
King, State of Washington.
On 04/14/25 at approximately 1952 hours I was dispatched to non-injury. Non-blocking 2 motor
vehicle accident at SW Sunset Blvd and Rainier Ave S.
Both vehicles were pulled into the O'Reilly Auto Parts at 307 Rainier Ave S. Unit#1 had a small
dent on the front passenger side of the bumper. Unit#2 had minor scrapes on the rear driver
side wheel well. Neither driver was injured and both drivers were the sole occupants of their
vehicles.
The driver of Unit#1 told me she was traveling northbound on Rainier Ave S and was in the eft
turn lane. She said she had a green light and the car in front of her proceeded straight through
the intersection. She conducted a U-turn into the southbound lanes of Rainier Ave S and said
she did not see that Unit#2 had turned into lane 1 of the southbound lanes of Rainier Ave S and
they collided.
The driver of Unit#2 said he was travelling eastbound on SW Sunset Blvd in the right turn le ne.
He said he had a green light and turned southbound into lane 1 of the southbound lanes of
Rainier Ave S. He said Unit#2 was conducting a U-turn and struck his vehicle after he was
already through the intersection.
Both drivers pulled into O'Reilly Auto Parts.There was a witness who saw the collision but did
not see what color the lights were when it happened. His story aligned with both the driver of
Unit#1 and Unit#2 and offered no new information. For this reason I did not gather any of his
personal information.
Based on conflicting accounts from both drivers, I am unable to determine who is tl e proxima
cause in this situation. One or both drivers cannot be telling the truth or is mistaken, because
both of them could not have had a green light from opposite directions and both could not have
had the right of way. However, both insisted they had a green light when they proceeded through
the intersection. I believe there is a traffic camera at S 3rd St and Rainier Ave S that could have

#5A0252092.
