NARRATIVE
On 02-18-2025 at approximately 1818 hours I was dispatched to an injury collision located at S 180th
St and E Valley Hwy in the City of Renton County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival I observed unit#2 facing east bound on SW 43rd St in lane 1 of 2. Unit#2 had heavy
damage to the front end of the vehicle. 1 requested the driver of unit#2, identified as Yanyin Chen
(DOB 07-07-1976), gather her license, registration and proof of insurance. While she was gathering
her documents, 1 went to speak with the driver of unit#1.
contacted the driver of unit#1, identified as Maverick R. Boyle (DOB 11-01-2006). He said he was
traveling from east to west on SW 43rd St. He was attempting to turn left to head south into the Jack
in the Box/Chevron parking lot when he was struck by unit#2 who was traveling from west to east on
SW 43rd St. He said unit#2 was in lane 1 (curbside lane). Boyle was complaining of pain to his left
leg. Renton Fire Authority arrived on scene and evaluated Boyle.
Officer Ediger spoke with Chen who advised she was traveling from west to east on SW 43rd St. She
was traveling in lane 1 when unit#1 made a left turn in front of her.
I noticed minor damage to the passenger side of the pickup bed on unit#1. The rear passenger tire
was flat as well. There was heavy damage to the front end of unit#2. The damage to both vehicles
appeared to be consistent with both driver statements.
I cited Boyle for failing to yield left turn (RCW 46.61.185). This was based on his statements that he
was in oncoming lanes attempting to turn into the Jack in the Box parking lot and not yielding to unit
#2 who had the right of way.
Photos were taken at the scene.
Unit#2 was towed by Bankers Towing.
During this incident, 1 was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video.
This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an exact transcription of the
entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system.
