On 01/20/2025 at approximately 1955 hours, I was working as a Police Officer for the City of
Renton.While working I was dispatched to a hit and run collision at Sunset Blvd N and N 3rd ST,
Located in the City of Renton, King County,Washington.
The notes of the call stated that the reporting party's vehicle was hit and run by a truck.
I arrived on scene and spoke with the reporting party, identified as Tesfu D. Kebubu (DOB:
08/11/1996).Tesfu reported that he was stopped at red light at the intersection of NE 3rd ST and
Sunset Blvd N facing in the westbound lanes of NE 3rd ST.While stopped a male in a blue Ford
Ranger pickup truck(WA LIC: B49777W) stepped out of his vehicle and began smoking a
cigarette. While out of the vehicle the truck rolled backwards and struck the front bumper of his
vehicle, a white 2020 Honda Civic (WA LIC: CTM8583) causing minor damage.The driver of the
truck apologized and pulled into a nearby parking lot with Tesfu. The male provided his driver's
License to Tesfu, and he photographed it, the male was identified as Matthew D.Wagner.
Wagner stated that he didn't have insurance and provided his phone number and stated he
would assist paying for the damages.Wagner stated that he needed to leave, and Tesfu stated
that he was calling the police to report the collision.Tesfu notified Wagner that he needed to
stay, and Wagner left.
I called Wagner with the phone number provided by Tesfu and Wagner told the same story.
Wagner admitted fault to the collision, provided his information, and stated that he did not have
insurance.
Wagner provided his information to Tesfu, admitted fault to the collision, and agreed to pay for
damages. I find no probable cause for any crime.
There is no further information at this time.
